A small brag for a game that until today, I hadn't run across in "the wild". She was a yard-sale find, and actually was $39, if you count the quarters (and the 1982 CEC tokens) I found in the cab.

The cabinet's pretty beat up and sadly missing the beautiful side-art (what's up with those stripes, anyhow?) but the game fired right up. I turned the brightness down on the G07, jumpered the -5v to the speech board (the post was long gone), and played the game for the first time in nearly thirty years...

...and I have absolutely no idea where I'm going to store it.

Dammn cant go wrong for 40 bux! If that was on CL it would have been 400 bux. LOL
Great score!

That is an awesome buy! I loved that game growing up. I never had the pleasure to play the arcade version but I played the shit out of the Atari 2600 version which I am sure sucks compared to yours! Congrats on our find.

Pete, we can store it at my house!!! I just moved my games around and made some room!! I can't believe you got that. I've been looking for a Vanguard and someone near SF was selling one for 400!!! and you got it so cheap. Congrats!!!!

I got a better look at the cabinet this morning - it looks like I'll have to do some cabinet repair as the base is pretty wobbly (and the edges are chewed up, of course). Nothing that isn't fixable, however.

I'm disappointed but not surprised that there doesn't seem to be any repro side-art available. Nevertheless, and without turning this into a resto thread, I grabbed the CitruStrip this morning and after two-hours of scraping and applying generous amounts of elbow grease, those funky lines and nasty gray paint are now history.

The thing is, without available side-art (anybody selling any NOS?), I'm not sure I'm up for doing much to the cab right now. That's what happens when you grab a game not on your want-list, I guess. Definitely a fun game, and as everyone's said, I couldn't beat the price (now $38.75 - I found another quarter this morning).

Ender: be careful what you're offering - I might just drop this at your doorstep!

Pete

Looks good man!

That's the problem with cabs with woodgrain sides- you can't really fix the chunks anywhere without redoing the whole sides. :( Centuri cabs also suck since they use 13/16" offset t-molding.

That is awesome.

I saw the cl ad, thought heading down and offering $100 if it was working. Then I said to myself: "Self, those crazy cheap pick ups of working games only happen in California."

Ahhh. All is as it should be. Woodgrain is so...comforting.

Underrated game.

You're just going to have to sell another one to make room...or get another storage space! Then you'll have LOTS MORE ROOM! ;)
