i have this one on my multicade and my 4 year old son is totally addicted. i'm a big fan of the game myself, and he saw me playing it one day....didn't really think anything of it until, out of the blue, he asked me to "put the swimming game on for me, daddy."

i know it's not a big deal, but he just got his best score a few minutes ago (5,340 if i'm not mistaken). i'm sure it'll go up though as he just figured out that he could eat the little power pellet thingys and eat the enemies for points.

anyway, nothing groundbreaking, but figured i'd share. i love that he loves arcade/video games.

happy holidays, everyone...

That's awesome! Its great to see little ones enjoying these games. I actually have a Swimmer machine; It's really an underrated classic.

i had never played it (hell, i hadn't even heard of it) until i got my multicade.....then, bored and drunk one night, i came across the title and fired it up. got instantly hooked.

not sure what it is about it....probably just the fact that it's a bit "different".....but i love this game. really glad i stumbled upon it.

For my kid, its World Class Bowling. She's about the same age as your son and hand/eye coordination isn't all there yet. Bowling is a game that lets her take the time and aim as well as being fun with the trackball.

Its interesting to watch kids develop. She also likes Ms. Pac Man. She went from just wanting to watch me play it to see the intermissions, to trying it and being frustrated, to being just about able to clear a screen on her own.

i just got my 1 year old a small 20 inch by 8 inch electronic pinball machine, has 4 flippers ftmfw! needs batteries...

yeah, i'm actually kind of surprised at how good his hand/eye coordination is at this point...he plays games on my 360 as well.

i'll have to see if i can get him interested in ms pac....seems as though that would be a tough one. if your daughter is clearing boards, that's awesome.

oh, and just one more quick update:

since i originally posted this thread, my son has gotten to where he goes for the power pellet thingys all the time now and really concentrates on trying to eat the enemies...his score has shot through the roof as a result (even as late as yesterday afternoon, he would go after the pellets, but would still avoid the baddies).

his high score has gone from around 8K (which he got sometime yesterday evening after i posted this thread) to a whopping 15,610. i'm pretty proud of him. :)

Haha, not bad at all! Swimmer is a challenging game, but with a little practice you can really start racking up the scores. Think he'll be able to beat the first 4 stages and reach the intermission?

hell, i didn't even know there was an intermission...LOL.

i'm not very good at the game, but i really like it....he'll have the top score on my machine in no time. ;)

There is, and its actually pretty cool. After you pass the first 4 stages, your swimmer swims up to an island and strikes a pose. Then some text pops up that says "Well done! You are great."

And then the games starts over (but increases in difficulty)

I tried the game on MAME last night. Spent $2.00 to get past level one. I didnt like it that much, sorry.

sorry to bump this thread yet again, but i finally made it to the intermission! hooray for me. :)

consistently getting around 50K now in score...........i realize that's probably laughable around you guys, but i'm pretty proud of it. dammit. ;)

Hey, 50k is actually pretty good! My personal best is just over 100k, but that was a few months ago. Haven't played it in a while.
