Ok I just picked up my Donkey Kong Junior.

The good:
The game boots right up, monitor is CRYSTAL CLEAR no burn in deep blacks. Back glass and marquee are nice.

The bad: No back door, joystick doesnt work at all but the p1 p2 buttons do. cpo is a little dirty and the machine needs some ORANGE PAINT.

It was very lightweight and the sides were smooth not wood (wood underneath covered by a layer of a plastic type material). So should clean up nicely.

Has some screen shots of it running but my other camera crapped out. Sound works I do have a slight hum while its running. I am amazed tho how clear the monitor is and bright colors.

I don't see any bad in a $28 Junior. If just about any part on that machine is good it's worth $28. Great score. - Barry

Those Sanyo's have kick ass pictures, man. Really nice monitors, at least on the Donkey Kong stuff.

As for the plywood the cabinet's made out of, the thin layer you're talking about is probably the 'laminated' jr. cabinet. Those are the good ones. They made a particle board one too but they suck in all ways sucking is possible.

I would say its the clearest picture of any classic I own or have owned in the past.

Its definetely the Laminated version then, coz its a thin layer over the inside wood. Has a smooth texture to it.

that cab probably isnt original to dkjr.. i thought they were all orange.. the blue were popeye, dk, and they were made in japan. the particle board versions were made by nintendo usa.

It has orange specks on the side and on front. I assume overtime someone has pulled off the orange color. But some still remains.

Hopefully just a bad ground on the joystick. The Tetris I got this summer had one joystick missing and all other controls were inoperable. The ground going to all controls was disconnected. Very nice pickup for the price. Some orange paint and side art and you're good to go.

NIIIIICE!!! This thing going to move to the "Restoration" section or WHAT!?!???
