So I picked this up a few months back but I have been busy with this that and the other thing to post about it here. It was listed on CL as having monitors issues but works blind for $250 price negotiable. It was only 50 miles away so I contacted the lady but she didn't get back to me for nearly a week. I thought well thats been sold but then out of the blue she sends me pics says she has been busy and that no one has been interested in it hardly. So I went up to go see it and I could tell it had more wrong with it then just monitor issues. A few wires were loose and out of their molex connectors and the main board was flashing some kind of error and a few other mild things. I was thinking this thing is going cost a few clams to get going and I told her that I was not interested. She then says I am sick of looking at it how about if you just take it for free as she was getting rid of some of her ex-husbands crap that he had been dragging his feet on for the last year picking up. I told her how about if I give you $20 so there are no hard feelings. She was cool with that and I figured worse comes to worse maybe I can part out some stuff or get a spare monitor going.
Well it turns out that it wasn't in as bad of shape as I originally thought. I replaced 2 bad fuses figured out where the loose wires went and cleaned off the gunk from the old AA batteries (still need to do the 3v mod) and then it would play blind but only on player 1 no player 2. I then noticed that the neck board had been busted (there was no backing board on this cab I will have to make a new one) which probably happened during moving it prior to be moving it. I solder jumper-ed all the bad traces and then the machine worked but still no player 2. I then read up on the KLOV and some other guy had a similar problem with no player 2 and he just reseated every connection on the boards. Well it turns out that the ribbon cable in the pic below was the culprit. I reseated it and viola machine works well. The player 2 joystick was fairly tight but player 1 was loose as a cheap well you know what I am saying. I ordered a rebuild kit for it and now its bitterly smooth. The side art is in pretty good shape and I now have a pretty decent joust that I am only into like $75. Now if only I can find a Q*bert man I love that game.
One last thing any idea where that wire goes with the duct tape on it on the coin mech?
