I'm really bummed about these. Last week I missed a $100 Spy Hunter UR, and now an $80 Centipede UR. The person with the Centipede told me she'd just promised it to someone but if they bailed I was next in line.

What bums me out is alot of the locals by me suck these all up and stockpile them to sell them at auction. I just want them for me and my family to play.

I'm at the point where I want to give up looking on CL. Everyone around me has RSS feed this and instant update that blah blah blah. I'm just trying to have some fun classics to play. :(

It does suck that all the good games are scooped up like that. I get instant updates on my phone when games are posted to CL. It's just the way things seem to be done anymore.

Good luck in the future.

Whats everyone using for their phone updates?

I don't know that it's the fastest notifications, but it seems to work. I don't want to be alerted all the time, so I just have it set to blink the light when it gets a hit, and I look at the phone regularly. You can set it to play a tone or whatever, if you like.

For the record, I got neither of those... I'm pretty much set w/ the games I have right now.

Heh, I appreciate your honesty sir...

Trust me, I know that not everyone who picks up games that are listed is a hoarder. I'm just getting sick of feeling like I'm calling in on a friggin' radio contest every time I email a seller about a new ad: "AM I CALLER NUMBER 5???!!!!! AM I???!!! HUH???!!!" I mean come on already. I don't carry an iPhone and I don't let this hobby run my life. But at the same time, it's starting to feel like if you don't let it take priority over everything else, you may as well just forget trying for games posted for sale. At least the ones that aren't listed as "Frogger - $5,000 OBO"

Life in the DC/Baltimore/Philly/NYC corridor, my friend... lotsa people, and many with disposable income.

There are also some people (I know of one guy in Newark) who buys/services/sells games for a living and could totally see someone like that snapping them up. No doubt he's wired and automated every way 'til Sunday to see new listings ASAP. I know he lists on CL too, so he's definitely aware of it as an arcade game marketplace.

I'm starting to feel better reading this vintagegamer. I'm new to this hobby but really enjoy it. And yes, you're right, not all are trying to scoop up the games to hoard for themselves. Anyhow, hang in there!

Will it make you feel better if I tell you the Centipede doesn't work? I was the one who got it. I just got back from unloading all 3 games. I got the Centipede, Race Drivin', and she had a Phoenix as well.

The Centipede is DoA right now. No lights, no sounds, no keys. The Phoenix makes random sounds, but nothing on the monitor. Race drivin' seems to work well.

The girl selling them was like 15 selling them out of her parents garage. They had all kinds of newer stuff in the garage so I'm not sure what the deal was. Nice house in a nice area, so maybe they had access to random deals somehow.

Sorry Jim!

Great work! Always glad to see it go to a fellow KLOV'er than somebody who's more likely to part it out or 60-in-1 it. Hopefully the Spy Hunter Jim mentioned went to a good home as well.

BTW, what CL was it on? Baltimore? Delaware? York/Lancaster?

I'm pretty sure mine was on the Baltimore site. I didn't see the Spy Hunter myself. I'll work on these shortly. Got my wedding this coming weekend and I'm busy until like mid-November.

I'm happy to have these. She had a Revolution X there too but I didn't bother to ask about.

I think I'm just going to let the wife call you directly. In the past 5 years the only 2 games she's asked for have been Donkey Kong and Centipede. The closest I came to getting a DK was the one in Dover, which is now in your game room. And, the closest Centipede, well.. :)

No. It ISN'T getting any better. And that is the EXACT reason why people are jumping ALL OVER the sub-$100 games like the ones that you mentioned and are ignoring the $5,000 games...

Lee

Agreed. I also like to pickup cheap games, clean them up and sell them for a tiny profit. (Emphasis on tiny)

Selling nice games in my area is near impossible to do.
