Hi guys,

I'm brand new to the forum and brand new to the arcade cabinet scene. I'm very happy to have found this site!

I'm the new owner of a nice Double Dragon cabinet, it plays really well and it's very clean. I was able to get it for $300 including delivery so I felt that was a good deal. I wanted a Jamma cabinet that I could easily swap other jamma games into from time to time..With the 3-button Double Dragon layout, I was hoping it would be easy to also play:

Final Fight
Bad Dudes

Can anyone else recommend jamma pcbs besides these 2 that would work well with my current controller set up?

Thanks!!

Try over on BYOAC with your question. These guys are brutal on newbs sometimes.

ps.
Just remembered MAWS. Have you tried that yet? Might get some good ideas from their search function.

pss. Welcome to the madness!!

who are you?!

only brutal if he asked about MAME'ing the cabinet.. not to new people..

welcome to the forum.

most jamma pcbs are 3 button so you should have no problem swapping games in an out easily! plenty to check out, a few great ones are black tiger, rastan, nba jam, x men, simpsons, and a whole lot more.

SideArms is a cool game that should work in there. Side scroller. I have it in my horiz jamma cab. Congrats on your first game and welcome!

Don't mind the comment about being brutal to newbs; seems most everyone is an equal opportunity brutalizer here. :) I kid, I kid!

For three button JAMMA, I like Robocop, P.O.W., Double Dragon 2, Aliens, etc. Lots of decent ones. I was planning on doing the same actually (picking up a DD cab) when I scrape some more hobby money together.

Welcome to the new addiction.

Ninja Turtles, Simpsons, X-Men, Sunset Riders. There's a ton of games out there to slap in that sucker.

Don't take any shit from people.

Welcome! I too own a DoubleDragon cab. I have Rastan and Nastar Warrior boards.

Congrats on the first game, you rule!

The first bit of great advice I can give you is go slow.
You buy one game, and you get so excited that you start buying more, and more. Pretty soon you'll have no room left, no more food because you spent all your money on the Pit Fighter just bought, and you'll be out on the streets living out of the back of your Bubble Bobble cab hoping people drop in quarters because the coin mechs are lined up to drop directly into your cupped hands because you were evicted after you couldn't pay the rent!
Seriously though, go slow. As you'll see from time to time in the threads people get burnt out and want to start selling off all their games and leave the hobby. Once the high wears off, people realize how many games they have, and how much work they need and they become overwhelmed.
Fix your DD to the point you want it. When you can give it the seal of approval that it's done, then go buy another game, and so on.
Congrats again!! :D

$300 is a good deal on a Double Dragon, especially if it was delivered. Great game. My first was a Final Fight. I had a few extra JAMMA PCBs as well. I really enjoyed playing TMNT on it (although I only had a 2 player layout). I had a Double Dragon PCB for a while as well. I also had a Nintendo to JAMMA adapter on a Mario Bros. PCB. Its very nice to be able to have several boards mounted in one game and just move the harness over. How about some pics of the Double Dragon?

Welcome and great pickup. With the 3 button control Panel you will be good to play a lot of awesome games.

Nobody has a problem with new comers here and nobody has a problem with anybody swapping out jamma pcbs to play in a dedicated Cab.

The only time people get mad is when they see Mame crimes. Like adding a track ball to your double Dragon cab and 6 buttons per player with lights lol

?? Aliens isn't 3 button. Although a GREAT JAMMA game to own.
You could do Ninja Gaiden or Silk Worm. Both games would be easy to adapt to that. Usually Ninja Gaiden comes with the 3rd button on top of the joystick, but you could easily make it work with your set up.

Oh, and as far as the Newbe thing... don't worry about it man. While yes there are some people on here that are complete a$$holes, the majority of us are really cool and will give you great advise. I learned a LOT on here over the past year. Remember, it's YOUR money and YOUR cabs. You can do what you want.

However, if you want to be spared the fire, here are 3 things to remember...

1) NEVER MAME a cabinet
2) NEVER make a Star Wars cabinet into a chair
3) ALWAYS post naked pictures of your girlfriend for us to look at! ... I kid! I kid!... no really you should do this.

I thought it was. Crouch, fire, and bomb? Was bomb a press of both buttons? Oh well, I can't remember. I agree though; great game nonetheless.

If you're thinking about getting Double Dragon 2, make sure you're aware ahead of time that it's nowhere as sweet as the NES version, it's an entire different game, more like an expansion on the first arcade Double Dragon.

Nice first pick up and welcome to the forums!

Double Dragon is definitely a great cab to swap out 2-player JAMMA boards as others have suggested so far.

I only have Double Dragon, Wrestlefest and Rastan to swap right now, but I'm hoping to grab other Taito games as well like DDII, Bubble Bobble (w/ adapter), Ninja Kids, etc. 2-player versions of Konami games are great as well.

Is the cabinet you have original? If so, what version/color is it? Here's a previous discussion on the matter. http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=117900

Welcome and grats on your pick up that is a hell of a nice first game. And there are tons of similar games that will slap right into it.

I am sure they were mentioned but:

X-Men
TMNT
TMNT Turtles in Time
Sunset Riders
Simpsons

They jump out as those 6 games almost got put in one cab with a switcher by me :)

Don't forget two buttons games will work fine too, and there are tons.

Welcome aboard, and congrats on your first of what I am sure will become many.

Wecome and great game. Lets see some pics of your new addiction. You will learn quick, "Pics or it didn't happen". It's not a bad group around here, don't be afraid. Ask questions, there are a ton of people that can and will help you out. Good luck.
