Nothing comes close, period. Dont believe me? Check out these tasty licks:

Sega had the game on lock. Nothing is better.

What, no Golden Axe final boss theme, or Altered Beast intro theme? Bah! ;-)

Sounds like you would enjoy becoming a Sega collector (not that I would know much about that).

I think Atari can hold their own to Sega...
720
Marble Madness...

Namco is another good one...Here is some of Dragon Spirit - one of the best soundtracks!

One of my all-time favorites in video game music has to be Quartet. I would get that game in a heartbeat if I could ever find one (and get it downstairs...it's a big mother).

Other great ones, from Nintendo. NOT arcade related, deal with it. NES 4evah!!!!

.

There were LPs and CDs released of Sega game music in Japan. I think the Sega sound team has/had their own band as well.

I have this one:

The drum samples don't sound so hot on a hi-fi  These are directly taken from the PCBs it sounds like. Contains music from Out-Run, Space Harrier and Alex Kidd in Miracle World. Alex Kidd on this appears to be re-recorded.

I also have a Namco LP produced by Haruomi Hosono of YMO that's more or less the same thing as above with Namco music, but has re-arrangements of the Xevious theme and the Galaga "got a high score, but not 1st place" song.

Man Steve, just when I think you can't surprise me with more Japanese goodies/knowledge, you come up with more cool stuff to share. Awesome! :)

While not arcade, it is SEGA, and has been called the best video game soundtrack ever...

I like the Daytona USA theme song Rolling Start. At the beginning before you start the game in attract mode, the guy keeps saying Daytonaaaaaaaaaaaa... well when I was younger I swear he was saying Betty Boner.
