I have always been interested in making a Multiwilliams and I just got myself a dead Defender as a candidate. But wait, do they make Multiwilliams kits for the Defender board set? Or is it just for Joust and Robot ron?

Robot ron?

Is this the Japanese/Chinese version of Robotron? :)
There's MW artwork specifially made for the Defender CP.

If you contact Todd_at_arcadeoverlays_dot_com, He can hook you up with one. His product is very nice, durable and affordable. I bought one for my Robotron MW and I plan on doing a review of the product soon.

I know Prok and Rikitiki do this sort of work as well but I don't think they are so much into the onesey twosey types of deals.

The JROK board is much easier and cleaner than trying any of the MultiWilliams hacks. And to answer your original question, no they don't work off of the Defender boardset. The Defender ROM image is hacked to move some of the internal addresses that changed between Defender and Stargate (like the watchdog) in order to allow Defender to run on the updated hardware. Also the Defender ROM board does not have the DMA (Special) chips that are necessary to run the games after Stargate (Robotron, Joust, Splat!, Bubbles).

Final overriding consideration: JROK $175 (IIRC), Clay $250+ (not counting the $120 to get a Joust or Robotron board set to plug it into).
