I am just about finished with my MW project and I am having issues with the joystick placements. I installed the joysticks where they are supposed to go according to the ArcadeShop CPO (which has horrible placement BTW) and after mounting the CP to the cab I realized I can't close the CP because the leaf switches are touching the the bottom bezel retainer and the bezel itself.

Do I need to cut out the spot where the switches are touching? Do I need to trim out holes in my bezel too?

Has anyone else had to cut holes in their bezel to get the CP to close??

I don't want to do anything too drastic to the bezel, because I will eventually upgrade to a metal CP once they are available again, so I can have more joystick shaft above the CP.

Here are some photos of what I'm talking about.

Yes. You will need to cut part of the wooden bezel retainer on the cabinet. Most of the control panel overlays move the second joystick up to be even with the left joystick (the Defender stick) and since the bases of the sticks are larger, something has to give.

Yup! I made about four of them and Had to notch out holes so the control panel would close. Its no big deal. I did mine just using a razorblade & chisle.

Actually, I think it has more to do with the fact that the original CP was wood, and the new ones are metal, so the bases are now mounted about an inch closer to the topside of the control panel, causing it to now come in contact with the wood retainer....
