MultiVector (Zektor) progress

Now if I could just fit the joysticks, buttons, spinner, roller, SW Yoke, battlezone sticks, trackball, LL Thrust controller, and cup holder on the CP, all would be perfect! :D

LMAO!! Im getting a few Star Wars Yokes from Daviea. Also got the Usb Pcb'S so they can be attached to mame. My plan was to make a removable mount for mame so I can easily add and remove the yoke from the front edge of the control panel.

Cool. you can just give me one to use in this control panel.

"Scratches Yoke of list of crap to put on Control Panel"

Would you guys be interested in a Vector MAME controller package deal? I'm thinking SW yoke, Tempest spinner, MH roller controller, LL thruster in a single discounted purchase. I have two of the four done and the other two nearly completed. What price point would be acceptable to all of you? I want to at least break even, but I'd also like to make a few $$ to maybe put toward the other projects I have brewing. If this is interesting, I might put together a few sets to sell off.

Comments?

Possibly... depending on the price... but I think it would be to expensive for me...

I'd be willing to put a limited number of sets together for a decent price if there's any interest. In fact, if I were to sell 10-20 sets before I finished the Tempest Spinner/Lunar Lander controller, I could keep the price extra-low AND get some extra cash-flow to put toward all the other projects.

I've been attempting to get RAM Controls as self sufficient as possible, so I'm not constantly dumping my own "mad money" into it. It's difficult to make the distinction from where my money ends and RAM Controls money begins, sometimes. I suppose that's a downside of having a "hobby business". The up side is that I'll make all these insane controllers that nobody else would ever consider reproducing.

Also, I think that most of you guys forget that I am a collector, too.... I'm usually happy to trade my reproduction stuff for arcade parts or whatever. I love electronics/gadgets just as much as the rest of you.

If $$ is an obstacle, let's talk trades. :)

I recently inquired about the future of ZVG:

Hey Jim,

Our previous run of ZVG's was supposed to be our last run until it could be redesigned and updated. There does seem to be some recent activity that has spawned several recent inquiries.

A quick answer would be no, but if the inquires keep up we may end up releasing another run of the current version I just can't give you a date for that.

Jeff

So keep pinging them!

I got an email from ZVG two weeks ago that basically said that there are no boards to buy and they are not making more. They do not have plans on making more and they do not have plans on making a USB and/or GUI mame version. He left a "crack" in the door by saying "maybe mid 2011..."
Emulating vectors has become an interesting topical over at byoac, "AAE" was an interesting attempt to make things look a bit better but has many issues.

Dave,

I have two ZVG and I just PM'd you about them. That being said, I would buy 2 multi-vecter panels.

I'd prefer them/it to fit a Gravitar/Space Duel/Black Widow cab, but I'll take what I can get. I was just going to make my own, but buying one would be a million times better.

Swapable so that two panels would cover all the games would be best, and I'd pay, let's say $500 if it came with all the controls/overlays (SW Yoke, spinners etc).

That

is

so

cool.

Thanks... :D

I got sound working tonight, although the computer freezes after a game. Does not do that if sound is turned off. Probably a memory issue (man, I love DOS :D)...

BTW for those sending me PMs asking, I don't have any more of these boards... I only ever had the one. Bought it on a whim... (and boy am I glad I did!).

What cabinet is this going into Barry? I know a guy in that has a Quantum cabinet that was converted into a capcom bowling. Im going to try to get that cabinet for mine.

A space duel cabinet... I know which cab you are talking about... I wanted that cab to convert back to Quantum... He had 5 cabs and would not separate them... :(

Yes its that cabinet. I know the guy who got it. He does not even know what Quantum is. His wife loves the Bowling game. I asked him if I found him a real nice bowling cabinet if he would swap me cabinets. He said he would. I need to get on that.

Man this is cool here is a link to one working in a cab.

Good luck... I want that cabinet!

Got a bit further this morning... sound is working now, but it affects the vector monitor... more memory tweaking.... ;)

Thank you.

I did a bit more work on it yesterday...

Tweaked the memory to the point where the games appear to play well with sound going with no issues. I dont have all the samples (voices) going yet, so that is the next step. Had to play with the memory management a bit. the computer now has a menu at boot up that will default to the ZVG after 3 seconds with no extra drivers or I can choose a 'Diagnostic' boot that will bring up the CD-ROM, etc.

Then, onto the control panel this weekend. Need to figure out how to hook up the spinner (any thoughts)?

I do find that when I exit some games in the middle of the game, the sounds go bonkers for a second or two, then it returns to the menu. In talking to someone else who has one, this appears to be the norm, but I will play with it as its a pain in the ass...

One other thing I need to figure out... before, when I was using FreeDOS (using DOS from Windows 98 now), the menu would "remember" where I was when I started the game. Now it resets to the beginning of the menu. It must be a setting...

The pictures I posted really dont to this any justice. It is so much brighter/crisper in person. I will try to take a video of it in action tonight and post that...
