I have 2 original Konami TP boardsets that are dead.

The top boards test out 100% when connected to a good bottom board.

The bottom boards however have 2 different issues.
1) Coins up, plays perfectly but 100% blind. No monitor output whatsoever. Could this be color prom failure?

2) Boots to random colored text, then either blanks or then display multi colored stripes horitonally across the screen (with monitor in vertical orientation)

No amount of swapping the custom chips changed the results on either board. All eproms test out 100% and sockets look good, but haven't checked continuity on each pin yet. Swapped interconnect cables and are using the +5V distribution cable as well so voltages are good.

Any thoughts?

I also have 3 BL boards. One is a very close copy of the Konami set (but with a 50 ? pin instead of 44 ? pin interconnect), but has discrete logic daughter boards instead of custom chips. It works but some clouds have the wrong graphics.

The other 2 BL boards have the words TAIMO PAYLUT or something similar silked on them (bad Chin-english translation)

1) Has no output / black screen.

2) Boots, works except the clouds and some ships have vertical lines flickering. Replaced graphics eproms (#4/#5) and even ran without them leaving blocks and still had flicker. Touching/pressing on the solder side pins around the eproms on the controlling chips makes it worse or better to sometimes gone. Any ideas which chip might be bad?

These boards are 1 more chip row on the lower board than an original board, have different interconnect IDC connector pinouts, and are different than the other BL; but all appear to share the same card edge pinout as real Konami.

Are there any repair logs out there for at least the original Konami boards?

Edit: Almost fixed one of the BL boards -- it had a Gyruss eprom in #3 instead of TP, and then had a 14 pin chip inserted wrong right next to the 6116 and eprom #6--still left with slight flicker as noted above.

hello! i have a few sets of which i have just identified two good lower boards (one is the taimo pyalot board) and one good upper board and have a few others to fix which are dead also, so we should share ideas etc! i havent found many repair logs either.

your BL boardset "very close copy of the Konami set (but with a 50 pin..."- have you tried swapping the good rom chips and customs from the good set for the daughterboards and roms on this boardset to see if that fixes the cloud problem ?

also if you have soem diagnostic tools like frequency meter and logic probe i can help with some comparison info for specific chips if needed. i have the good set on the workbench at the moment.

Cheers, Andy.
