Hello all,
I have a question that's been bugging me for quite a while and I was hoping someone here could help.
I need to measure the +5 voltage on my PLAYCHOICE cab because I believe it's off and causing problems with my TMNT2 PCB and I'm not quite sure how to do it. I have a digital multimeter but I've never really had any real training or instrution on how to use it (except for the 1 thing I bought it for measuring Ohms on a thermostat). I also need to measure my Pole Position 2 power supply & Big Blue to make sure they're not the reason for the problems it's having.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, ERIC

quick answer

1. Set the meter to read DC Voltage
2. Set range to include '5' (if necessary)
3. put leads in appropriate jacks (usually the voltage vs. amps)
4. put black to ground, red to voltage source (if you do it backward, it just will read negative volts)
5. Read the display :)

that being said, youtube has some good tutorials to watch.

If you have (get) a good DMM, you can do much more with it, including checking diodes, transistors, and capacitors.
