I have a couple generic cabs I need to get rid of and was thinking about using some surplus computer power supplies and monitors as a substitute for arcade parts when I build them up. In your opinion, to a person looking for a multigame, would an LCD monitor be a positive or negative selling point?

Depends on the buyer, but I would say most casual people looking for one of these would find it a bonus.

I guess some pros would be easy to find replacements, lighter and cheaper.

and the cons (most casual people won't care about) would be the resolutions suck for older games.

100% of the time the LCD is a positive selling point for generic multigames.

1. They're cheap on CL
2. They're more efficient
3. Light wieght
4. Easy to hang
5. Long lasting
6. Give a crisp, smooth appearance to the games (the average joe prefers it)
7. Free up one more arcade monitor for use in games that need it.

The only folks who don't seem to like them as much as the CRTs are the die-hard hobbyist. "I like the way it makes the games look more authentic". Pfffft, whatever. If you're that picky about pixels on the screen then you're ears are probably bleeding when you hear some of the games.

I will agree 100% with everything, the first thing I do when building a multi is take the arcade monitor out and add it to my collection. Then I order a brand new LCD from Good Egg, strip it from its case and make a wooden bezel for it to mount in. Looks clean and is much easier to work with.
