Hi guys, got a new multicade today and one question, i'm missing the sound on donkey kong running, galaga crashing donkey kong jr. climbing etc. the green plug is going in the computer and both speakers are working but not all the sound is there. Is that a sound card problem? New to the multicade. thanks

Sounds like just a MAME computer, not an xx-in-1 which is a custom board setup.

It also sounds like you're missing your sample files for those ROMs. You'll need to track those down and load the .zip files into your /samples directory.

Appreciate the replys guys, i'm learning, just new. Here is a picture of it. How are these booted. Right off the hard-drive normally? How would you add the roms to these? Thanks for helping me out.

So are the 48-1 games more accurate to the origianl than the mame games? The donkey kong seemed pretty spot on except i noticed the picture is not as solid as the real deal.

Don't have a xx-1 board yet but from what I understand its essentially mame on single pcb. If I'm wrong on this someone correct me. A great site with alot of information on building cabs with mame is Build Your Own Arcade Controls. Give them a try as well as looking here.

Most of the games are pretty accurate for both except for the sounds. You will find that a good version of MAME with the proper samples will sound better than the current 48 or 60 in 1 boards.

The picture may look different on the MAME because chances are you are running it on a PC monitor instead of an arcade monitor.

I have configured both XXin1 systems as well as MAME systems. Basically XXin1 are easier to setup, almost plug and play, especially if you have a JAMMA-wired cabinet already. MAME is a lot more labor intensive to set up, you need specialized hardware in most cases, and there is a fair amount of tweaking with the software, frontend, etc. but you get a lot more versatility, and a lot more games with it.

Both methods have advantages and disadvantages.

Go to http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php

There is so much info there about MAME, and the community is very helpful... one thing though, use the search function before you post anything. Chances are good that someone already ran into an identical issue and the resolution is well-documented.
