Let me preface this post by saying I recognize that multicades are kinda frowned upon around here, and if I had the resources or space I would much prefer game rooms like some of the ones I've seen from members on here, that being said, sadly I can't, so, for now, I am going to have to settle for a multicade PCB.

I am looking for a horizontal, and wondering what the KLOV community would recommend. I've looked into 173-in-1 as well as the 1000+-in-1, besides cost and operating system they seem similar, does anyone know which is better or has less problems. Does anyone have any serious complaints (besides that its a multicade) that I may not have considered? I've heard the audio tends to be not very authentic? Any experiences with the menus? Anyone know the best place to purchase one?

Sorry again for multicade discussion on here, and thanks in advance for any insight.

We don't have problems w/ multicade threads on here. Frizzle just started one about a new 19in1 thats all the rage. As far as problems w/ the multi units, I think it all comes down to each unit itself. If you buy a jamma board w/out a harddrive on it you are going to be just fine. If you buy a unit w/ a harddrive you should buy it brand new. These units tend to be more fragile. You don't want to be putting it in and taking it out of your cab. alot. Take the time to install it properly and you will be fine. I have a GameBox and BabyStar and both are working 100 percent. Hope this helps.

I have experience with darn near all the different multi-game boards. I PREFER the single JAMMA board solutions (39-in-1, 48-in-1, 60-in-1 and the new 19-in-1 horizontal) personally. They seem to be as reliable as any JAMMA board.

The other boards out there (111-in-1, 170-in-1, 465-in-1, and 1000-in-1) are all mini-PC's strapped to a JAMMA interface card. They have SDRAM, a CPU with heatsink/fan unit, and in the case of the 1000-in-1, a hard drive. The other units use a Compact Flash card instead of the hard drive.

While they work, I PERSONALLY don't care for them. They are essentially a MAME unit...why not just build your own MAME cabinet? I'd much rather have a custom MAME cabinet with the 6500 ROMS+ available, my own custom menu, etc over any of the PC based multigame boards...but that is just a personal preference.

Also, being they are PC based, they are as reliable as such...meaning they aren't as reliable as the single JAMMA boards described above...but for a home unit that shouldn't be a big deal.

thanks guys, very much appreciated, now I just have to find one, the babystar ones are out of stock, anyone have one for sale or know of another site to buy from? thanks again.
