To some the word Multicade means another classic game destroyed. In my case I guess you can say I destroyed a classic game but I in turn saved one from being destroyed. My Cabaret cabinet stared it life a a Centipede I bought from a fellow KLOV member. I got it home and after some play time the G07 screen died. It sat in my shop for some time as I was going to fix the screen. Recently saw a fellow KLOV member looking for parts to restore his Centipede Cabaret. I ended up selling him everything but the empty cabinet, glass and coin box.
I have 3 young kids that enjoy the classic games so I decided to take what was left and make a Multicade so they and myself could enjoy all the classic games. And the bonus of the Cabaret cabinet so it didn't take a ton of room up in my house.
I plan to restore the cabinet a little and paint it all black with green t molding. The side art will be Multicade in the shape of the Galaga side art. The control panel will have a custom graphic to accommodate a joystick, trackball, a b c buttons and 1p, 2p buttons. The glass will be themed like Ms. Pacman but colors changed to match the rest of the art. The marquee will be very simple with just Multicade across due to is small size and will be back light.
On to a few pictures. I will update as things move along.
