I went to that site, it's 11.55 UKP without shipping. Thats 18.8126 US Dollars
and with shipping from the UK I'll bet the one in the USA will be cheaper. :rolleyes:

Yeah, that isn't so bad. I was thinking about getting the lever and the spring and supply my own pot. If someone did a bulk order on those it would really cut the costs...
 
hard to say how many new repro thrusters got out there (r.i.p. ram)
and not sure how plentiful orginals are out there Ive never really looked
but they do seem to pop up for time to time.

but take a look the graphics which look orginal are mostly white
thought it was a little strange, rare version perhaps??

Yes it is slightly different. Maybe an early run or maybe one of the last?
Could even be some one touched up the paint and changed it a little.

Yes it's hard to say what is the best solution to this problem.
I am sure some will be happy with keeping their control panel original and controlling LL with the button.
Some would like to keep the original panel configuration but have a new CPO to make it look like something from all 3 games.
Some like myself who have an original thruster and would like to use it would really need the new control panel like you and Malice95 have come up with.
I have a complete LL control panel and thought about using it but I think it would be a little difficult to play Asteroids and AD with the LL button layout. I would rather have the new panel with the original Asteroids button layout on the left side and the LL thruster on the right side.
I don't know if it would be to much to ask but maybe you could make 2 different CPO.
One for the original panel for use with the original button layout.
A second one for the new panel with the buttons on the left side. You could leave the spot on the right uncut and maybe add a step down set of squares which could be cut out by the user depending wither they were using the full size thruster or a smaller home made thruster. Eve if new control panels were not made you could cut new holes in the old panel for the new CPO.
I know it's a lot to take in and think about.
I just hope the thruster interface board appears soon. I have been thinking about working on my own A/D converter just incase.
 
If someone has an original LL thruster they could loan to me (or CAD drawings) I could see if I could reproduce them or perhaps reproduce a smaller version for the multi-kit.

A smaller reproduction version may be they way to go with a new panel for the multigame.

Maybe 3/4 or 1/2 size of the original :)

Well it would be better for both owners if we made it fit on both but according to VAPS Top 100 most collected video games Asteroids comes in at #8 with 468 members and Asteroids Deluxe comes in at #16 with 303 members. I might add that right now only Asteroids Multi games are slowly shipping out so first demand is gonna be for Asteroids with exception to those who want to run an Asteroids board in their AD.

My point is if it fits on AD, then you can try to sell it to 771 collectors. ;)

I think most folks with an AD will want to run an Asteroids board if they can get one so they have correct sounds in all the games.

I bought an Asteroids board in December for this reason.

I just received the Fingertip Throttle Mechanism from The Robot MarketPlace. It came with a 10K 50 degree pot not a 5K pot. What that means with only 50 degrees of travel with the lever you get the full range of the 10K pot. Sense Lunar Lander only uses a small part of a 5K pot, wile it would work, Full range would be maybe 1/4 inch of travel. If you replaced the 10K 50 degree pot with a 5K 320-degree pot like is in the LL controller then the 50 degree travel might be close. So wile you might be able to use this setup you will need to replace the pot so with that said you could probably get a 5K pot and make the lever and bracket your self cheaper.I still plain to do some testing with a 5K pot sense I already have it.

I'd be down for a thruster that'd work with a modified Ast Dlx control panel on the right side with everything else intact. I have an extra beat up panel that I could use for this. An appropriate control panel overlay would be awesome too.

Been testing the multigame. Very good stuff, and very playable with Ast Dlx controls. Would be nice to have a small thruster option too.

I just ordered the DAC chip and am going to give the thruster idea a go also, I wonder if a thruster could be attached to the dome bolts on the RHS of the Asteroids C/panel.
Then you could have a thruster without damaging the original panel, I will look at options anyway
