Ok I (personally) just recently got my first Williams cab (Defender) and it coincidentally hit about the same time as the release of these Other new board sets.
So, NOT discussing price, but lay it out for all of us
What are the differences in;
1) Connections original wiring compatible?
2) what if any original boards required
3) power supply need? Original or switching?
4) how true to original game play?
And lastly, can specific games be turned off? (run Defender/Stargate dedicated?)
Thought this might help limit anybody's confusion, including mine ;)

1) Connections original wiring compatible?

JROK = JAMMA. But he was making a wiring adapter to plug into the standard Williams wiring set.

VL = Stock Williams wiring. It looks like the adapter just plugs in place of the I/O card, but uses everything else stock including I/O cables.

2) what if any original boards required

JROK = None. It is a self contained JAMMA board

VL = MPU + ROM board (from Robotron or later, it needs the special chips)

3) power supply need? Original or switching?

JROK = Either. It will work off of the original linear or a switcher

VL = original linear.

4) how true to original game play?

JROK = Uses a 6809 + emulated hardware, so gameplay is very close if not exactly the same

VL = Uses original hardware + ROM switching, so gameplay is exactly the same.

And lastly, can specific games be turned off? (run Defender/Stargate dedicated?)

JROK = Games can be turned on/off and one game can be set to boot to.

VL = Don't know. Mike?
