I just got one of these multi-william control panels from arcadeshop (who now choose a new supplier for these) yesterday. Not sure if it was just mine, but the studs that are tacted on for the joysticks stick to far up. I realized this after I already applied my overlay. You can see the for studs stick up through the control panel overlay. I emailed Steven about this and he said he's going to see what his supplier can do about it. So I basically paid more money for a worst product which I also told him. He never said in the reply that he will refund or discount the control panel since it is clearly defective. I sent him another email asking for a refund or partial refund and waiting on his response. I would like to return the whole control panel, but my overlay is already applied on it. I just wanted to let you guys know about this problem since a lot of people were waiting for this to come in.

My studs are all depressed, but it still sucks cuz I have to bondo the voids, then sand and seal the bondo, then paint the whole damn thing. Jack the price $30 and make sure to increase the prep work involved. Sounds about right to me.

AS... the quality... the customer service... the support after the purchase... the nice voice on the end of the line. What's not to love?

BTW - I would demand a full refund for the CP and the CPO... or a new CP and new CPO so you can fill those holes as Phet is going to do.

am I missing something why would phets be different?
Dj do you have a pic of the metal panel before applying the cpo?

as far as prep and bondoing panel not much different than the later midway Cps
(ie burgertime, mappy, journey, etc.) they were all poorly fabricated
and proper prep should be done before applying any new cpo.

Thats one of the reasons midway used that thick spongy black adhesive on theres to help hind the defects

Lame - but with this type of fabrication it would take an excessive amount of time to make sure the metal was flush. And if you received one that had been bondo'd you'd be pissed off as well. Not defending AS by any means - I agree about 90% of the AS experience is crap. It's proof that anyone can offer crappy service and products and remain in business. If everyone stopped buying from them maybe they'd figure it out and start to care.

I dont have a problem with arcadeshop at all, just this overlay. I purchased this from them the other day ann went to put the overlay on yesterday and notice that the 4 studs for the joystick stuch up higher than the control panel. I bought about 5 control panels from them before they switch the manufacture and never had this problem. I coulod understand if the studs were below the panel and you could fill it with bondo if you choose, but these are sticking up higher. What are you suppose to do make it higher with bondo and have an uneven control panel or a lumpy control panel? Everything should be flush (right or wrong)! If they are charging $30 more dollars for these you should have to do anything but throw an overlay over it or paint it and then throw an overlay over it. I'm not trying to dog anybody out, but I was just giving everyone a heads up before they order these. It also seems that I might have an issue getting a refund here. He is asking for the panel back, which I don't mind giving him, but the problem is my overlay is on it and its not an arcadeshop overlay. It was a custom overlay that I cant get anymore.

Well here's the bad news... My panel from the old run has the same problem, so this has nothing to do with the new run. Some studs were worse than others and overall none of the studs were terrible. I didn't want to sand the studs down either as I wasn't sure how much metal was there and if I would be making the stud weaker. I powdercoated the panel to lessen the effect.

I did not however have any that were depressed like Phets. At least if they are depressed there is a reliable way to fix them.

Picture of the overlay

Here is the overlay I put on the defectived arcadeshop conrtrol panel. I didn't take a picture of the bare control panel before I put the overlay on because I didn't think I had to. I never had this problem before out of all the multi-williams cabs I made.

Totally agree. In this case, you can't rally to some retailer's side because *you* have had good experiences with said retailer in completely unrelated transactions. This is a complete fabrication error/ quality control issue that has nothing to do with other previous good deals someone may or may not have had with the seller in the past. Focus on the issue at hand. If you haven't ordered this particular product from this seller before, how the hell can you comment on the issue at hand? If the overlay get's or looks F'ed after installation because of this particular error/ defect in the CP, is that not a problem the seller of the CP needs to address, especially after all the wait, anticipation and price increase on this particular product? I'm with ya Darryl.

Ah crap... not even an AS CPO so he couldn't kick you down one. Now that sucks...

I wouldn't really care or make a big deal about it if it was just a regular arcadeshop overlay because they can easily be replaced. But this overlay I put on it can not. I will be very upset if he doesn't refund my money for the control panel. Thats the least he can do since he can't replace the overlay. He should give me a new overlay now that Im thinking of it. That would be considered good customer service. I spent a lot of money with them and they always been pretty good with there stuff. I just cant sit back and take a "sorry about that" for this one. This killed my vibe for fixing up this multi-williams now. I will just throw it together and sell or trade it now.

Dude's still not responded to your email from this morning?

Why am I not surprised? Oh yeah, because it's par for the course.

lately when i call AS it kinda feels like talking to a bill collector. So who else out there carries most of the stuff they do? Maybe it's time to try another source.
