Shilmover's Post on the Zektor Mame MultiVector. Was very exciting.

I have decided to make one. I found a board:eek:

How many people have these working? any links to other post would be appreciated.

Basically I need to decide what to use to set up my computer. What type of computer/ OS/ Sound board, ect. I have copies of windows 2000 and windows 98 if needed. I have not used DOS in a few years, but it should come back quick.

I want to have a computer fast enough with the right set up.

Yeah it worked. Looked very cool. The computer and board were outside of the cabinet if I remember correctly. I think it was running into a Space duel cab. I just played it for a few minutes, but it was fun to play.

A mate of mine is making a 2.8 GHz machine for me, The Mobo just needs a PCI slot to fit a Soundblaster compatible card so it works in DOS

He is going to set it up to boot straight into the program, so no typing.

No need for old school PCs I think

The System will be Win XP, but it probably doesn't matter using the boot system we will be using, unless you want USB to work, then you need Win98SE or better :)

It works only with DOS MAME, not GUI MAME. It works only with a parallel port, not USB.
If they had made the ZVG work with newer computer components, it might not have been such a bomb for them. Good luck!

I'm working on one... :)

I have a 1.8GHz P4 computer. You need a parallel port for sure.

I tried 5, yes 5!, different soundblaster cards before I found one that seems to work (still have a bunch of testing to do)...

By the way, USB was mentioned earlier, as sometimes it is handy for file transfer. :D

It is handy if using windows

Anyway, each to his own :D

Just giving you a hard time...

I installed mine on a CF card with a CF to IDE converter... I can then just plug it into my desktop and copy files on/off...

The control panel is something im having a hard time planning, How to design something to make all games playable correctly will be impossible.
I hope Daviea will come up with a good multi panel design.

I think Im going to do multiple panel's. I will maybe use a Space duel for most games. I just bought a Red Baron, Battlezone, And lunar Lander panel. I also have a Spare Star Trek Panel.

I know I cant get every panel but if I have a few of my favorites that I can switch out, it would be cool. The problem is how to attach different size panels to the cab??

Don't you have all those games as dedicated classics ? Why waste time and good parts on a multi-vector ?

Im running out of room. I will keep all my classics. I really want this for Major Havoc, Quantium and some of the Sega vectors. Oh and Star Castle.

I wont be hacking any original vector stuff. I feel the same as you about hacking original stuff, I dont do it!! If I have any type of multi panel that would be new.
The cabinet might be a Quantum but that will be saved from the Bowling conversion someone made out of it, all the original parts are gone on that.

If you are thinking of a control panel, you should check out this thread:

Great link!!!

Im re-thinking the Control panel thing. Im probably just going to do one like they are doing in the link above. I will prob release the extra panels to people who need them, or use them on dedicated machines, since I have dedicated versions of those games anyway.

Im still in early planning!!
