What's the official name of that multi Taito collection? I'd like to get one. Or the url for that 'Nix' place

what wiring harness do you need to hook one of those up?

It's JAMMA. The only odd thing is the 'tilt' on the JAMMA harness is the menu button.

I just picked one of these up (from a Gameroom Classics cab) and it's pretty fun. The firing sound on Elevator Action seems a but off, but the quality/playability of the games is great. Like Richie said, the Rastan emulation is most impressive. :)

Mine does not save scores in Zookeeper either. You would think they could have spared a few bytes on the SD card... heheh.

Nixs was selling some of the (leftover?) boards from the company. These were originally in a home style system (either countertop or standup) called 'Taito Gameroom Classics' or in some cases 'SNK Gameroom Classics' manufactured by Hanaho. As such, this is a licensed product, unlike some of the other multiboards. Nixs has a thread here:

He is currently sold out of these boards, but he might end up getting more of them in the future. If you're impatient, you can always hunt down one of the cabs in the wild. That's what I did.

The SD card is read-only. IIRC, there is some flash on the board.... Kinda lame they didn't bother to implement score save.

I figured it was read only--probably saved some bucks on the design that way. I'm guessing the on board flash is used to store the volume level?

Hey Matt, what chip did you end up using to do the 'p1/p2 together = menu' mod you mentioned in the other thread? Can I just toss in any old 74XX chip with OR logic? Better yet, did you ever post that circuit?

I took some pics and was going to write up a little tutorial on how to make a "virtual button", but I haven't got around to finishing it yet. You might be able to pull it off with a single OR gate, but I'm not sure how durable or well-behaved that would be. I chose to use a NOR gate in conjunction with a bilateral switch (4066). The output of the NOR controls the switch, which simply grounds the input of the button you want to control.

Not to step on Matt's toes, but I used this when I set up my 2 in 1 jamma switcher.

Hope that helps.

Thanks (to both of you) for posting the info on building a virtual button. I think I have a 7402 handy, now to see if I can scare up a 4066..

Rastan is a great game. Lots of great platformers came out in 1987.

- Rastan
- Bionic Commando
- Karnov

etc
