Multi-Rotary Cabinet

Everything is 1 to 1 and there is nothing fancy going on. I very briefly looked into kick harness, but there seems to be a few different types. You could easily use this for those types of games you would just need to make a cable that goes from the board to this board. If you really wanted to, you could buy your kick/orwhatever harness off the shelf and then solder it to this board, but I'd advise against that and use connectors.

Just so I can keep track:

2x Phoenix
2x OldTimeToys
2x xarcade
2x nate1981s
2x melandez
2x DanV
2x GackAttack

If your name is up there, you are signing up as a commitment to buy. If you are not willing to make that commitment then let me know.

I'll go up to 7 and then have a standby list. The standby list is if there are extra boards and not a guarantee on a board.

Cool....

....I like seeing others have the same goal - I have been slowly getting stuff together to build my multi-rotary setup. I didn't realize that this requires a separate harness for the joysticks. I'm new at doing any special mods, I got the 8in1 clay switcher a couple months back but have yet to install, I'm assuming have the same issues needing the joystick jumper harness board?

So each board is for (1) joystick and supports up to 6 games at once?

If that's the case, I may want to get (4) boards from you (for 2 cabs I'll be working on)....

Yes

There is no "may". Either you are in or out.

How about 2 boards now as that fills out the requirements and possibly max set of boards? If there are extras we can see about you getting 4, but I'd rather give other people a chance first.

Sorry....

I meant to say count me in for (2) and may even want (4).

So yes, put me on the commitment list for (2) for sure. If you wind up with a few extras I'll probably take (2) more....

Thanks for addressing this issue for the mutli-rotary fans out there!

Ok, so it looks like we have enough. I'll still make a standby list if people want.

I've got a few things to edit before I send the board off like double check clearances, double check diode orientation, etc. Also, just a note even though there are spots for 13 diodes, 1 will actually be a jumper. I'll post an update when I send the boards out to be made.

I would think that if someone just wanted to have one board powered at a time (i.e. not a 6-in-1 switcher), then they would not have to use the diodes; they could just have shorts.

Another thought - you mentioned that these could be used for the 4-player additional harnesses. Don't some of those have different pinouts between manufacturers? When I looked at making one for my multi- 4 player cab, I tried to accomodate the various harness pinouts in the layout.

** Whoops, just finished reading the thread, and you answered my questions. If you can, put me on the standby for 2 boards. Thanks!

Parts
Basically, there are 2 parts needed. Diodes and connectors.

Diodes - Any 1N4148 or similar should work. Ex. Mouser Link
If you are using this with 2 Rotary Joysticks and populating the whole thing, you need
144 Diodes.

Connectors - This is kind of up to what each person is doing. What type of cable you are planning to use, etc. Some people may just try to use IDE cables others may have a stash of rotary cables. Let me hear what you all are planning and I can break down each scenario.

Also, Would anyone be interested in some of the original mating connectors? They aren't readily available, but I will consider ordering a small bulk of them from Japan. I will probably do a prepay at that point though.

I would like some of the connectors assuming they are not to expensive. How much are we talking about? we would need 4 for each game assuming we do not have the cables already, right?

To clarify, I was talking about connectors on the PCB.

If wanted, I might be able to add the pins and connectors for the cables as well.

Pricing would depend on QTY, but it look pretty good compared to even ordering off digikey plus I don't think there would be any additional shipping charges on your end.

Boards are in.

Does everyone want to pay now and have them shipped or should we continue the discussion on connectors?

As for prices of the original, depending on qty you are looking at maybe .50 to .75 per Header, .25-.50 per cable connector, and pins for the cable connector would be about .30 each. Shipping would probably be no extra charge as I could fit it in the same box as the boards.
