I have a VERY solid Galaxian cab that I've been thinking about multi'ng for some extra money. The wood is solid and in very good shape.

However... the cabinet is gutted... I mean, not even an isolation transformer. The only piece I have that's related to the cabinet is the CP.

The side art was stripped off at some point and black vinyl was applied... and then eventually pulled off (about 90% gone... down to bare wood).

It seems like a pretty simple question... it's begging to be multi'd because of the shape the cabinet is in. ... But you just don't see Galaxians around here that much any more. I've seen 3, total, in the past few years. 2 actually working, the 3rd being this cabinet.

I'm almost set on just rebuilding it as a multicade, but I'm still having trouble pulling the trigger on doing it. I'd like to take it back to it's Galaxian roots either way...

Is there even any art for multis out there that are centered around Galaxian art? (White BG's instead of black, CPO's that look more like Galaxian than mishmash, etc etc?)

Im not a fan of "busy" looking cp either. I have 2 multi's that I made and I used a generic solid color overlay. I think they turned out great.

if you can't find a galaxian harness, you could always wire it jamma, keep it one button but with a 4 way stick, and that way you wouldn't be hacking up the cabinet/control panel. then you'd just be able to play any of the one button games on the 48/60 in one.

When they are 1/2 gone I am a pretty big fan of Arcadeshop board multi games.

It's a more expensive route but the result is really nice. I'm working on my 2nd Ms Pacman since this one was pretty far gone and the original Harness that someone put back into it wouldn't fire up the Souza 4:1 multipac board I tried to get in there. I was consolidating this painted Ms Pac with a working JAMMA'd Ms Pac that I got for cheap also. I'm trying to restore it with a JAMMA harness and a switcher leaving the original tranny in there.

(I have some spare parts from the spare cab. You need an original Midway Iso Trany?)

I would say just multi it, and put in an AS clone board but program it so that Galaxian comes up first followed by other similar games.

With the only option out there that I've seen... I'd rather just paint the CP white for a multi. I'm sorry... but some of that stuff is just a little too much for me. Same with the bezels, marquees... and I guess it's not even a question anymore when you think about it. I guess it'll be Galaxian side/kick art from TOG, Galaxian marquee, and a solid white CP (several layers of clearcoat to protect it) and black bezel (unless I can find a REALLY cheap Galaxian bezel when I get to that step) if I multi it...

It wouldn't be that hard of a decision for me if I was a bigger Galaxian fan... I've always liked Galaga better. ... but I hate multis... but I like money... I like original stuff... but I like money...

Since it is the same cabinet as PacMan, I would convert it to a PacMan.

PacMan always sells and it is the only game in my area that you can consistently get more than $500 for.

Stencils and artwork will cost you more than $500, so don't do it for an investment. That's a lot of effort to get $100-200.

You still don't see Galaxians, because what you described is no longer a Galaxian. It'll never be a Galaxian again, so who cares? Multiawaaaaaaay.
