I am converting a SF2 centipede style cabinet to hold MK1, MK2, and UMK3. I am currently planning NOT to use any multi-jamma switches (unless someone has a recommendation). Does anyone have any suggestions about wiring the buttons to all the PCBs, so I would only have to plug the Jamma into the board?
I was thinking of either soldering all 3 kickharnesses to the respective buttons or just putting quick disconnects so I can pop them in and out. Anyone have any experience with this kind of project?

Neverenough installed diodes into the lines to isolate each board from the other. It worked for him and I'll be doing the same very soon. He used 1N914 1N4148 diodes he picked up at Radio Shack.

I have a MK and UMK3 in the same cab. I just ran both kick harnesses to the buttons. There are some older threads here, but the only issue you will have is with the MK1 harness. You will have to disconnect that kick harness when playing any of the others.

I went and bought a 2 n 1 (Mikes), and it seems to have fixed the issue with the kick harness

You need to check out this site:

Multi MK

So you just ran both kick-harnesses to the buttons and soldered them on? I'm assuming I can just leave the run button (middle punch) dead with the MK1 harness.

Do you need extra power for the two and one?

Thanks for the responses..

Umortal,

How does Mike's 2 and 1 connect the 2 boards? Looks like one would be one Jamma cable short? What am I missing?

The mikes 2-1 gets its power from the jamma harness, it plugs in between the first board and the jamma connector. The extension jamma harness pictured runs to the second board, the power supply should be sufficient for powering both boards. The 2-1 provides diode protection for the buttons in the jamma harness. I added diodes in my kick harnesses due to backfeed casuing the kick harness buttons not to work.

Yeah, the PS that was in it handles both boards fine. I didnt have to diodes for the kick harness for mine. Not sure if it has to do with the 2 n 1 or maybe I wired it weird but I have no issues with the kick harnesses.

The only issue I have, which is not a bid deal, is that I cant get both games to center on the monitor. I can get one centered but the other will be slightly off when I switch over. Not a big deal, I just centered the one I play the most.
