If anyone ever does a Multi-Jamma switcher set up that is going to have games requiring the Jamma+ harnesses, I made a video to help with that. I'd appreciate some feedback as to it's effectiveness/tutorial quality. Thanks!...

EDIT!! PLEASE READ: Ok. I told you wrong. On the Y-Unit MK1 instructions, follow the CHART. NOT the pictures of the buttons. Here is the correct layout..P1 LP = Green. P1 LK = Orange. P2 LP = Red. P2 LK = Brown.

it's a long vid but a good one. you should ditch the lighter method for shrinking the wrap and use a heat gun instead. You should mention that you only need to do the diodes if your using the switcher and not if your just swapping the jamma harness from 1 board to another (thanks for that info a few months ago btw :D ).

edit: i didn't watch in HD but it looked like you really gobbed the solder on the control panel end of the diodes.

Thanks man. I don't think I put too much solder on that location. It's been my experience that it you don't flow enough completely through the joints, then there is a greater risk of cold joints or they come apart. Rather be safe than sorry, especially when I am doing this for someone else.

Very good point about only needing the diodes if you aren't simply switching the harnesses.

yea it was tough to see the solder ends, it could have just been reflection, hey if it works it's a job well done :D

glad to see all the new vids, it's gonna suck while your away.

Where are you going to be away at?

And re:flux, if you use solder with flux in it, do you really need to use the extra flux to avoid cold solder joints when tinning it?

Thanks again for doing the mods and for making this video. For every ones info, I plan on documenting my multi mk install and putting all his videos on wiring up the switcher and harness mods into one big playlist for other people to use that want to do the same thing. So hopefully it will help others who want to do the same thing in the future. The video is long but has to be to discuss everything that needed to be talked about on the topic. I feel you covered it very well and I watched it beginning to end this morning. Thanks again.

I am working for the Government in Afghanistan. That's all I can say.

I have found the solder with flux in it is inadequate. I always had to end up using more to get a good solid joint. That's just my experience. I was also told in the solder tech school I went to for the Military that it's always better to use a little too much flux rather than not enough and have to do the job over again. If you clean the flux with alcohol and an acid brush after you are done, it doesn't really matter how much you use as long as it's enough. Hope that makes sense.

yup that's how i do it, i found the 90% alcohol works really really good compared to the other diluted stuff. the acid brush is key.

No problem -- thanks for your service to our country.

Interesting info with the flux -- I'll have to pick some up. And I bought some flux remover that I guess I can use.
