Hey guys. I just bought a Commando in great shape. I want to put a 6-in-1 switcher in it, but I am limited to the type of games due to it only have 1 joystick. I'm not going to add a second because I want to keep it original.

So my question is, what great NON-simultaneous 2-player games are your favorites? Which ones would you recommend? I'd like to have at least one incarnation of the 1942 series, but I'm not too up to date on the other good non-simultaneous 2-player games.

Thanks!

The games also need to be vertical as well.

I think you are going to be using a lot of adapters, as Commando isn't jamma and there aren't a lot of vertical take turns jamma titles (tons of Konami wired ones though).

Actually, the Commando board that I have in the cabinet IS Jamma. The cab's connector is hooked to a converter board that in turn hooks to the Commando board. It appears that someone installed Commando roms on a 1943 board, or one similar. I'll try and snap a pic.

Yeah, I'll probably just use games that ARE simultaneous 2-player and just disable the 2-player start button as I'm the only one who plays these machines anyway. I can come up with something different later. I'll wait to see what titles you guys can come up with. I already have a Contra board, so I thought about adding it and just play it with 1 player.

Ok, long as you are sure, Commando is supposed to be a 56 pin board that isn't Jamma that came with an adapter to plug into the Data East style cabinet.

Well, that would explain the current setup, but I am not 100% sure. It certainly looked Jamma.

Commando & 1942 use 56-pin connectors, but aren't JAMMA.
Easy way to tell the diff: on JAMMA the key (blocked off pair of pins) is the 7th position; on Commando & 1942 it's the 8th.

Yeah. It appears you guys are correct. I don't have much experience in the non-Jamma realm. The line-up I am thinking about, based on suggestions is 1) Commando 2) 1943 3) Sky Shark 4) Contra 5) Raiden 2 6) Gunsmoke.

Can you guys tell me how many of those are Jamma/non-Jamma and how many adapters I'd need and what type? I apologize for the ignorance.

Well, If I remove the Data East cab wiring and install a Jamma harness to hook to the switcher, I'd only need 2 adapters (Commando/Gunsmoke) because 1943, Raiden 2, Sky Shark, and Contra all appear to be Jamma. I can't re-use the cab's adapter, so it looks like I'll need 2 "Jamma to Data East" adapters to make this work.

Ok. I have decided to go with the 276-in-1. Save myself a lot of headache and work. It's got Commando, so everything else is a plus. I'll have to wire the cab for Jamma, but that's no big deal.

Commando,Super Contra,Psychic 5,Drift Out,and Namco Collection or a 60-1.
Other than the expensive shmups I'd suggest Toobin' too but I am pretty sure it's Medium Res game.
