Recently picked up a Wiliam's Pot 'O Gold (1965) pinball that was in great condition. It was set to free play and like to have all my games take coins. To this end, the coin mech is missing. All the switches and coin chute is there... just no coin mech.

Here's the catch, this machine is a Nickel, Dime, Quarter machine with only 1 external coin slot. The Mech sits in the door 'sideways' and 'sorts' the coins and then dropping them on the appropriate switch wire.

I am looking for one of these multi-coin mechs. I have done some searching but can't seem to turn up anything. I am presuming it's because I'm not using the right search term.. I mean there has to be these things out there right?

Anyone got a lead as to where I can find one of these that would fit my machine?

Thanks!

Rusty

A google search turned up they are used in jukeboxs from the 60's
Could this be what you need?

That particular door used a vending/jukebox style 3 coin (N-D-Q) acceptor. I have one of these doors totally restored to new condition from a Williams "8 Ball" pinball machine. There were two brands of coin acceptor used in that door: Coin Acceptors (a.k.a. Coinco) and National Rejectors (a.k.a. National). Both will work.

Attached are pictures of the greenish colored plastic Coin Acceptors one that came with mine. It accepts US and Canadian coins, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Pictured is the coin exit holes where the individual denominations exit the acceptor over the correct coin switch.

Occasionally, these coin acceptors show up on ebay.

Thanks for all the info!!!

I have a multi coin acceptor in my Rock-Ola and I pulled that to see if it would work and it doesn't. If anyone sees one of the two that Ken mentioned on EBay or has one to sell... please let me know! I will be at the Houston Arcade Expo as well as the Dallas Show so if I don't find one by then maybe someone there will have one.

Thanks again!

It may be possible that the modern Coinco 790 series coin acceptors commonly used in Coinco changers (for soda pop machines) and Rowe jukeboxes could work. It all depends if the nickels, dimes, and quarters exit the bottom of the acceptor in the correct positions. I think it does. The 790 series is available in two versions. The most common one has an extended "shovel" coin entry as well as an extended coin reject arm. The less common one (and the one likely to work in your application) has the coin entry area flush (no shovel) with the base casting and also has a coin reject arm flush with the base casting.

The model numbers of the Coinco acceptor I have are long gone. Coinco always printed the model numbers on a 3/4" square paper label affixed to the backside of the acceptor. Those labels always fell off over the years.

Here is a picture of the back of the coin door showing a National Rejectors coin acceptor installed. I found the picture on ebay a couple of years ago. BTW, National Rejectors always painted their coin acceptors gray in color.
