Never worked on one of these before and it looks nothing like the pics on RB page

Can someone confirm this is a MTC9000?

Ahh Haa!

Thanks!

Holy Shiet...$40 for a flyback...yikes!

Make sure that giant resistor isn't bad. If the flyback goes, and the monitor is left on.....it'll take out that big resistor. That'll set you back another $10 or so.

I have no HV at all and that resister is super hot. I read somewhere (can't remember where) that if that resister is hot enough to burn ya...your flyback is shot. I'll throw a ohm meter on it and see...I should just probably buy it

Yup. I've repaired the MTC9000s a few times and every time that big resistor was hot, it was because of the flyback.

I don't think $40 for the flyback is back. That's the same price as I paid 10+ years ago! What else holds its price for 10 years? Not to mention, I also just paid $75 for a flyback shipped. Ugh!

Would that be the same on a 900E?

Also I'm guessing if the resister is (really) hot it probably isn't open. I wonder if it's OK. Kinda wanna get the order in today =)

I can't say if the 900E is the same because I never worked on one, but for the 9000s, I never replaced the resistor and they were fine. I believe the key is how long the monitor was on and how long the resistor heated up. If it was only for a very short time, you should be fine. If it was, say, an hour, then I'm sure it would be bad.

Yep, What Ripweade said.
Honestly, those cement resistors will turn brown when over heated....and the writing that's stamped onto them will cook off. Just ohm it out and see what you get.....too low (or too high).....replace.
