I received a fully working Galaga PCB today, and hooked it up to my rebuilt MTC 9000 monitor (new caps, flyback, hot). I saw an out of sync picture, and managed to get it looking 100% correct. The colors looked good too.

I left it on for a few minutes, and after about 10 minutes the monitor suddenly vertically collapsed, and then the line slowly disappeared. I turned the machine off & an on, and now I don't get any image whatsoever. I can turn the brightness & focus up on the flyback up all the way and nothing happens. I smelled something electrical when it happened, but didn't see any smoke.

I tested the B+ voltage, and it spikes to about 14v for maybe a quarter of a second then goes down to 0v. There is a bit of static buildup from the tube right when it's turned on. If I leave it on for a minute or two, I hear a high pitched wine.

Any idea what could be going on?

Thanks! I'll try to digest that. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info out there on these Hantarexs.

After I posted that last message, I waited about an hour, and switched it back on too find everything displaying correctly. However, after about another 10 minutes the same thing happened. The screen slowly collapsed.

Could a component be overheating?

All the components are out of the cabinet on a desk. There isn't a ground going from the monitor to the power supply. Should there be one? Maybe this is why it's fritzing. I've got no clue.
