Hey yall. I have a Mouse Trap that Im trying to freshin up and Im also Restoring a Donkey Kong. I need a little help with what parts I can get for the MT to tighten up on the play in the stick. If these are not avaliable is there another stick I could get to go in it? On the DK Theres alot of play in it and I need to know what parts for it. I dont know anything about these things besides its a little difficult to use them while playing. Thanks Aaron.

The DK sticks are loose normally.
As long as it doesn't stick and returns to center it should be OK.
If not then you can take it apart and thoroughly clean all the parts especially the ball pivot with WD-40 or other degreaser and then blow the pivot ball out.
As long as all the parts are there, put it back together and lube the ball pivot with a light oil.
Here is a blow up of the DK stick. Ignore the arrow.

What he said ^^^, and if you really do have worn out parts, mikesarcade.com has repro parts for this joystick.

As for MT, it's basically a ms pac joystick. Seemed to only have a slight difference in the leaf switch mounting when I compared mine visually, although I certainly didn't disassemble them to confirm with more certainty. So maybe just a slightly different rev of the same joystick. Anyway, if the centering grommet is worn out (torn rubber), I'd bet you can use a ms pac centering grommet. I think they're available from arcadeshop.com iirc and probably other places.

P.S. Time to update your sig, smalltown! :p

DK and MT

jimkirk - Thanks for that info and the diagram. I didnt realize they should be loose it does seem a little worn so Ill take it all apart and clean it, then see how it does.

ShanMan - I thought I had read that somewher on here, but I wasnt sure about what I might need and where to get it. Ill try and take it apart this coming week after I show it off a lttle bit.
