Ms Pacman vertially split sprites & curling on side of screen

I wonder if Mark's going to fix the glaringly obvious mistakes in it ? You know seeing as he's a stickler for accuracy.

Considering it's not posted where I have any sort of control over it, it'd be a little hard for me to make any changes to it, don't you think? I wrote that up when I was first getting into collecting. If you'd like to make any additions or corrections to it, I'm sure the newbies here would appreciate it.

It was used in Netrek back in 1992.
Twink = newbie player... easy to kill...
The etymology was likely cream puff -> twinkie -> twink.

I'm sure you'd prefer to be fixated on gay slang, but this article is more appropriate:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twinking

You're sure? How can you be sure? You're the one lashing out at everybody like some sort of lunatic! I don't think you're sure of much at this point.

Considering this is a gaming-related message board, and you chose to post a link to gay slang on wikipedia, when the disambiguation page for 'twink' also had a link to a gaming-related usage, it seems quite probable that you're fixated on gay slang.

Wow! ...it's really getting crowded in here. I grew up in a pretty dysfunctional family so on one hand, I can ignore crap with the best of them and on the other, kinda feels like home. Thanks guys. ;)

Now I'm wishing I spelled "vertically" right in the title (and hoping I don't misspell anything here now).

We're all a little off to be interested in a hobby like this that has so many aspects to it and brings in so many different kinds of people. What did you expect I guess?

Now on to the fun stuff!

Good news: I got the parts from Bob Roberts today. It still amazes me that I can order parts on a Friday morning from Louisiana and receive it on a Monday in Washington state.

I replaced the broken leaf switch so I can actually go right now...feels good to finish the 1st level using the joystick after an embarrassing amount of games trying to beat my last score by only going left, up & down. At one point last night after I felt like I maxed out my score I soldered in a micro switch that I could push with my other hand to go right. As it turns out that's not really a fun way to play the game.

Installed new cam locks front & back.

Replaced old power power cord with a shiny new one.

I also got a bunch of free tokens & pennies that were jammed in the coin slots. Always a bonus since there was nothing in the coin box.

I didn't get to work on the monitor tonight due to too much actually playing the game along with the other stuff, but I've got the chassis pulled and on the work bench ready for tomorrow after work. She's a dirty girl:

BTW, thanks Dokert. And Mark, you nailed the chip. Thank you.

You're still pointing people to read a comically flawed document 10 years later and you can't send email to the admin on the title page, you poor victim would you like someone to do it for you ?

Flawed though it is, find me a page with better information.
That was a 1st draft that I sent to someone on IRC... that version wasn't meant for public consumption.

I can have the admin delete the page entirely since it was posted without my permission if that'll make you feel better. Feel free to write up your own more accurate document if you want to do something more helpful than sniping...

So why do you still encourage people to look for it ?

Whatever you feel like Mark.

Ah excellent text book spaethean response, go on the attack ! Why don't you fix your own document seeing as you like to have a little tantrum and insult people who don't have the correct answer to hand ? It's only applying the same rules you expect others to live by isn't it ?

I encouraged people to find the final document, not the first draft. It's unfortunate that that's the one that was archived.

Just a response to your attack, Jimmy... I had the correct answer at hand. If pointing out 10 year old errors make you feel better, go for it.

Hell, I didn't even call you out for telling someone to buy a SMD IC to replace their DIP IC in another thread... I didn't even have to go back 4 months (qbert) or 10 years (pacman) to find that bad advice.

Erk. Come on guys. What's your problem with Mark? Mark knows his stuff. He also is a very helpful person, willing to give free advice with amazing accuracy. And you're giving him a hard time just because he doesn't want to hold your hand, walk you through every last little detail of repairing something, preferring instead to give only useful, relevant bit:

Looks like the carry out on 1F is bad.
He doesn't stab in the dark, he doesn't suggest needless things, and he knows what he's talking about. Why do you always have to criticize?

No. I had never heard the term before, so I Googled it, and it mostly came back as "Gay slang", so I posted the link to let you know what the average person might think you were talking about. Your attacking me over it was expected, as I have seen alot of your other posts.

I bet if you look up "Keyboard warrior" it has a link to your posting history!

That's all been since edited Retro, it was all tainted with shit-show-isms before that. Correct advice yes, but that isn't his words.

The difference is, is that he admits when he makes a mistake and doesn't come up with some BS excuse...
