I just picked up a Ms. PacMan today. I can power up the game, hear sound, press the one player button, but then only see a single horizontal line going accross the screen. If I move the joystick, I can hear gulping and being "eaten up" due to not having the board pattern.

Any ideas? This is my first arcade game -- I've found that the manual for the game does not have anything in regards to the monitor section.

Thanks,
Bob

How to determine monitor type?

How do I find this info out? I have a full-size cabinet.

mine was listed on the top of the monitor.it should say brand and series number..if you take a pic and post it i bet someone will know just by looking at it...i told me before i even had a clue what kind it was.

So the line goes across the long axis of the monitor.
Meaning from top to bottom in a MS Pacman cab?

Monitor is 19" Electrohome G07

I found this out this morning, and that it appears that the the cabinet may have been
an original PacMan (due to monitor bezel) -- not sure at this point, since marque is
Ms. Pacman, overlay for controls is Ms Pacman, but cabinet has been painted black.

What I see on the monitor, when looking at it while the game is "running" is a single line
going accross the monitor, in the middle, from left-to-right.

Where can I get a manual/schematics for this monitor?

You can rule out vertical deflection because your monitor should be flipped on its side so that the longer axis goes from top to bottom so vertical collapse would appear to you as a vertical line. Horizontal collapse will not normally have a line because that circuit also controls the high voltage, so you would have no video, the monitor would typically appear dead without the horizontal circuit.
you may need to go through the monitor chassis fixing cold solder joints. remember the crt needs to be discharged before pulling the chassis.
There are also some weird video issues that may be caused by components on the game board. these errors would usually be odd character movement or colors and characters being squashed to one area of the screen. I haven't heard of your problem being due to the game board.
Good luck

If there is a horizontal line on a vertically mounted monitor, then you either:

a) have a broken horizontal width coil
b) have the horizontal yoke connector unplugged or plugged in incorrectly
c) have a bad horizontal yoke.

Although i suppose it's possible for another part to be bad, as stated before - typical parts failures in the horizontal deflection circuit usually just give a blank screen....

Any difference if it's a G07-CB0 monitor?

The marking on the side of the mounting bracket actually says that it's
a G07-CB0 monitor. I've found the docs on the G07-CA0, along with
finding that there is a cap replacement kit for the G07-CB0. Is there
a pdf file for the G07-CB0?

Likewise, since I'm new to this (arcade games, working with monitor
electronics), how do I discharge the tube?

One other tidbit -- the line going accross is more than one pixel wide...seems
like it may be 3~5 pixels. Would it hurt if I tried tweaking L503 on the pcb
board?
