Hey guys,

I'm having a strange issue with my ms. pac.

The power switch does not allow me to turn off the unit; it seems to be always stuck in the on position.

Strangely enough when the leads that go into the power switch are completely disconnected and powered, the unit still turns on.

I swapped out the interlock switch with no luck, still the same issues.

Does this sound like a bad power switch or is there a deeper issue going on?

Thanks,
Jj

sounds like its wired up directly to the wall outlet there. probably over there was a bank of switches that turned on 25 games or whatever in the arcade ???

don't like unplugging games like that with no earth ground especially with those original monitors in there, at all. Could be why some of these game boards fail with all those remnant electrons looking for somewhere to go with no earth ground for the split seconds after 3 prong plug removal from wall outlet or no

can't those interlock switches be pulled OUT to make work too ?
I would put it back to original on/off switch and be done with it

It does have a 3 prong plug and is pretty much unhacked. I took a closer look at the leads going to the interlock and it seems that only 2 of the 4 wires are actually outputting power. The game runs fine, it's just an odd issue.

Sort of a progress update:

I found one of the orange wires off, and have resoldered it back to the fuse block.

Then I noticed that on the other 2 fuse block, the slowblo 2A fuse associated with the brown wire that goes to the interconnect then power switch is blowing fuses.

There doesn't appear to be a whole lot associated with that line; the only thing I could think of is the power switch might be bad?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Jj

Update #3 -- I went over all connections and have managed to have the fuse not blow....only issue left is when the power button is pressed, the game board reboots and it hums....any idea what can be doing this?

it's hooked up wrong
quick !
unplug it and follow each and every wire on the schematic exactly

also that one fuse holder on the transformer assembly needs to be replaced immediately if you haven't already done it
the tangs get weak over time and don't grip the fuse tight enough causing fewer electrons to pass through than necessary to properly operate the game
good luck
