So I just got an original Ms. Pacman machine in exchange for a wii (good deal...Right???) and I replaced the monitor in it even though it worked fine just because I really wanted a great picture and it was hazing over green sometimes randomly. Now everything works great but I'm thinking of changing out the powersupply board due to the power cable being frayed. I've got it wrapped in electrical tape, but I'm concerned about the board due to the fact that it is GIANT and had big cap looking tubes on it. It's like the size of a breifcase and twice as thick with the caps factored in. Anyway, can this just be changed to a newer power supply no prob? Or am I going to have to rewire everything?

P.S. When I changed the monitor, I had to have the power connection changed to a two pin as the board inside does not have a ground.

#1. make sure you still run a ground to the monitor.

#2. as far as what you're talking about, i have no fucking clue, probably wanna take some pics. it sounds like you're talking about the isolation transformer/duse assy where the line cord goes. you can get just a line cord to replace it with.

#3. the green screen problem is probably more a board or monitor issue.

The green screen was definatly the monitor going out. It was also doing a red flash thing, changed the monitor and poof, no more problem. The ground that was cut has one end bolted to the chasy of the monitor and the other end is just hanging, what should I attach that other end to as it was part of the power plug for the monitor.

well, you should have a wire from the earth ground from the line cord on the xformer that is probably going to all the various ground straps. i'd connect a ground strap at least to the chassis frame to the xformer assy.

Yea, it's hard to describe, but it is the "Original" like mega old power supply. It's just a big board that has a power cable coming from it and what look like vacuum tubes. It also has a normal three prong wall outlet built into it for some unknown reason. Anyway, I will post pics when I get it out of the corner I just worked so hard to get it in.

Your description sucks, post some pics and we can help you.

Vacuum tubes on a pac?? There shouldnt even be caps or anything that resembles a tube on that power brick. Yeah we definitly need to see a pic on this one. Its possible someone swapped in a linear from a super pac or something like that.
As far as the yellow ground straps, yank them out they are not needed. Just make sure you have an earth ground going to the frame of the monitor.

And the coin door, and the control panel, and well... pretty much everywhere that the yellow ground straps go.

it sounds like he has a later-run Ms. pac that used the same big-ass power supply that Super Pac-Man used. I'll bet it even has factory vinyl side art....

Here, does it look anything like this? This is what was in the later-run Ms. Pac's:

Looks alot like the first one, just in the top left area of that board mounted on the bottom there are two of these things, that look like giant capacitors. They are like the size of plums.

Edit: Actually, aside from those cap like things I described, it looks EXACTLY like the board in the first shot.

if that's what it is, you may be able to get the arcade shop switcher conversion to replace it with.

that transformer assy looks like the one midway used in cocktails. if you look at the brackets on it you can see where the shield between the neck on the monitor and the xformer goes.

Ms. Pacman Upright Power Supply

Hi Everyone,

I have an upright original Ms. Pac and wanted to change out the old Power Supply with little or no experience. Is there a place online that I can purchase an updated power supply that will be ready to go? I basically just want to rip the old one out and replace with a new one that I just have to connect.
Let me know if this is possible.
