Hi,

I was wondering if I could get some guidance from you guys on how to fix an issue with my Ms. Pacman cocktail table. I have not played it for a while, and last night the player one button got stuck, not allowing anyone to play a two-player game. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I am new at trying to fix any issues, so I appreciate any guidance even on how to remove the covering over the area where the start buttons are.

Also, after some time on, there started to be a smoky smell from the machine. The game was working fine, but I just turned it off to avoid problems. Any thoughts on that?

Thank you all for your time.

Do you know how to open it? If so crack it open, unscrew your player one button and pull it out. Make sure the button itself is moving freely. If not work it until it frees up. Might be gunked up. Make sure the actual switch to your wires isn't stuck together for some reason also.

Thanks for the help.

I opened the machine, but I couldn't unscrew the player one button. It looks like it's in a housing, at the bottom of which are the soldered wires. I tried gently using a wrench to unscrew that metal housing. It wouldn't budge at all. Am I approaching this wrong?

Thanks again.

Edit: I just noticed it's a cocktail.

The nut should just unscrew off with a little force, you may need a ratchet.

If you are smelling smoke in your machine, I would have an experienced person check out your transformer, fuse block and harness... and possibly the monitor. Better safe than sorry!

I see you are in the Bay Area, which has lots of experienced arcade folks. I am sure one of them could stop by and help you out.
