Ms Pacman Monitor?

As you say it will do wonders for the picture, so I imagine it will be brighter and the burn not as noticeable.

Caps will get rid of those weird dark bars through the picture, as well as brighten up the monitor overall, and they'll make the sync circuits less touchy. But they won't do a thing for screen burn. Honstly, I find that with pacs the screen burn isn't nearly as noticeable, mostly due to the tinted glass and the fact that the game doesn't have any large colored objects scrolling. Of course, a lot of it is personal preference - some people are such perfectionists they will be bothered by burn no matter what.

Thats good, when I was attempting to adjust the picture...hard to do when the monitor is installed....I notice the controls were very very sensitive. I may be a perfectionist, I am a virgo and that should explain it all. You should see me when I am restoring a wood radio cabinet...I still look at previous projects and think they look horrible but others say they look fine :D

HA got to luv my luck, some how I got the board to work...the maze is just a little yellow from the bad chips but hey its playable. But the monitor has some really bad burn in, visible when playing too. Don't think recaping will remove the burn in.

I had a Pole Position with a MatsuSHITa monitor in it that had several blobs like that on it. I thought it was the tube for the longest time, but it was just something on the chassis as I used that tube in my JoyStand photobooth and it looks great in there. I'd tell you what it was on the chassis that was causing it, but I have no idea as I wouldn't cross the street to piss on a Matsushita to put it out if it was on fire; much less warm up a soldering iron to work on one.

I -think- I remember reading somewhere that failing/failed flybacks can cause black blotches like that, but don't quote me on it.

i had a dead spot on my tetris which has a wg4900 in it. i bought it and used the dead spot as a negiotoation for price... when i got it home the dead spot slowly filled in and now it looks fine, so your tube should be fine.

Wish that would have worked for me. When I got the pac it was dead, no keys, just made sounds and covered in white speckles. The lady would not budge off of 300$. Its main selling point was all the graphics were complete and very very little ware. I just ordered the cap kit, so when I get it recapped lets hope the spot goes away after awhile. Oh and the locksmith got a kick out of the machine, I think I have been the only one to wheel in a ms pac and ask to have keys cut :D
