I am looking at buying a 60 in one machine that is using a Ms. Pacman cabinet with the original monitor used for Ms. Pacman.

The monitor has some burn-in, not horrible but it is noticeable.
I'm nervous about buying it and then needing to replace it soon after.

What can be done to remedy this?
Maybe I'd be willing to pay the person I'm buying it from to correct the problem if a solution exists.

Thanks,
Ted

Burn-in is permanent. The solution is to either replace the tube in the existing monitor with a brand new tube or simply buy a brand new monitor (which may need some wiring changes due to different connectors).

Yup - burn-in is permanent wear of the picture tube and cannot be repaired short of replacing the tube. But, just because the tube is a little burned doesn't mean that the monitor is going to die soon either. It's pretty normal for Pac games to have lots of burn. When you're actually playing Ms. Pac, the burn won't be very noticeable anyway. Also, Pac cabinets have a tinted glass that goes over the monitor - so you don't notice the burn as much.

If the burn is really bad and you can't live with it, you can replace the tube or monitor. But, if it doesn't bother you - it's not going to hurt anything.
