Purchased this Glass marquee from fellow klover Spacebaby because I've heard that a very small amount of early Glass marquees were done before switching to the commonly known plexi...when I got this thing I was surprised to see how amazing the condition was on this thing..just a few very small blemishes..nothing to worry about and in nice enough condition to display.

So who knows any history on the glass production run on these...to my knowledge no repros were done on glass that I know of and this one looks original..definitely not a repro...wondering how rare these are...

Spacebaby said he actually got this from a Pacman cab from an auction..so maybe some early kits had the glass marquee...or maybe a pac cab on location was converted using an original Ms Pac marquee as opposed to having to swap the entire cabs too ...who knows..Here are some shots of the marquee...no comparison to Plexiglas IMO on these pieces..unfortunately Plexi tends to hold up better in terms of paint deterioration.

They are pretty rare. Notice the difference in the colors, specifically the blue. I came across a machine with one of these about a week or two ago.
Im not sure when they were used. The machine I saw it on didnt have a low or high serial number.

Good point Mike..forgot to mention that the blue is a much lighter baby blue ..and there is no fade on this marquee so its a true lighter blue..the red is also much darker and more vibrant.. more of what I'd call a ruby red...than the pink tint you see on the plexi marquees..really sweet find.

I've never been able to get a definitive answer on whether or not these were on production games early on...or just limited kits...?

Another thing that I noticed is the fact that the "a Bally co" is below the midway logo. And there's a TM there as well as a copyright underneath the "pac" part.None of which my plexi has.Not sure if mine is a repro or not,but it still doesn't have those three things.

Probably a reproduction. If its original it should have the copyrights.

Yes...I have an original plexi and it has same markings as my glass...I also have one of the good repro's that were done that has all same copyright markings as well..some repro's didn't have any of the copyright info and some had just midway If I remember correctly..

I figured it probably was,but I have seen original items without them.(Printing errors, etc) It doesn't look bad although I need to clean it up.

Rick, I just bought one of these glass marquees today.

Well that must mean you have a spare plexi in nice condition? I am in need of a better one if your old one is up for sale.

The one its replacing is NOS :) Not for sale.

Mike...cool where did you find it? Post a picture...the one I have is very nice..and the colors have no fade whatsoever...also no flaking...just a few small pin holes towards the bottom..you really have to look closely to see them at all and they are covered when displayed.
