My ms pacman just started freaking out last night.I came home from work ,go into the game room turn on the ms pac and bam ,the coin counter starts going crazy and the screen went gray. What the pluck!! I disconnected the board and the coin counter stopped ,so what is going on .For a split second the screen was black with just the #0 in the top right corner .I tried to replace the 4R chip from my other board but ht e counter was still going crazy. So what know ?Any suggestions ?Is this something simple or did something bad happen.I have already gone ober the board and checked to make sure all the roms are seated adn if checked the wires on the back adn they are fine(bootleg board). If anyone has had this happen or know where to start I would greatly appreciate it .Thanks fellow KLOVers.PEACE!!!!

a board that mades coin counters go crazy? This could be useful. Just run it until the counter rolls over to 0. Put 125 credits on it, then sell your machines as HUO. (I should have been a used car salesman)

Sorry, no ideas on your board though.

My Ms Pac machine has a switching power supply in it (it came to me that way), and on occasion I would get that blinking 0. More often than not, it would happen in the warmer months when that room was warmer. I know people always say to check the video ram, but for mine, it's because the power being generated by the switcher was dropping in the higher temps. I turned up the power adjust on the switcher and the game hasn't done that to me since.

As for the coin counter, try disconnecting the harness that goes to the coin door from the inner harness (there should be a molex connector right by the top of the coin door when you open it up) and then power up the machine and see what happens.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replys .Unfortunately I have the original power supply in this one .Shes all original except the board. I think i might have tripped something or maybe caused a surge because I was testing another ms pacman panel that i put led buttons in on this machine t osee if they would light up. Everything worked fine ,no problem then all of a sudden all that shit happened .ITs definately something on the board because when i put in a different board everything is ok .So what the Phuck did I do .Keep em coming .I dont like to see my girl sick.

have read several times when the coin counter goes nuts it's a bad z80
I have never dealt with that problem on any boards but if you have a spare z80 it's worth a shot

Atari boards will do this when the roms need to be reseatted. I have seen it 100 times with atari boards. Cant say I have ever had that problem with a pac board.

Disconnect the coin door from the harness. Does the machine play? A loose wire grounding out will cause the coin counter to go nuts. Also check your slam switch.

I unplugged the coin door .THe screen is now just gray ? Weird .IF anyone has any thoughts of whats up keep them coming. Thanks

OK a little update.Well last night i took my origianl ms pac board and started switching out the roms to see if there was a change in anything. The one thing that i did discover was that on the bootleg board was when i unplugged the small board next to the z80 rom the coin counter stopped ticking when i plugged it back in it started ticking again. The only thing that i can think of is, the board got a surge of power some how and zapped certain things .The back of the board looks like there is alot of brown solder flux.So I think I now have two broken Ms pac boards. One original and one bootleg.Sweet!!! I have tried to take things from one baord to another to see if I can get at least something but the best that I got was a screen full of little white lines with one of the lines in the top right switching form red to white? If anyone wants to break me a deal on servicing these two boards for a good price or taking one board inexchange for fixing one I would be very interested.Im going to see what I can do but I doubt its much.Oh by the way the ms pacman is now only showing a gray screen no matter what .I had to test these boards in my pacman .Oh well welcome to the hobby of arcade games.PEACE!!!

got any other game boards laying around

look them over for a z80 (most newer jamma games have a socketed one )and swap it into the daughter card

you can also rule out the daughter card by removing the card and cable and turning it back to a pcaman with wron colors (dont rember exactly what the process is but i know you pull the z80 from daughter card and plug it in to the main board i dont rember if you have to plug the eprom in a s well or not)
