Just picked up a ms pac for 200 bucks.... of course it looked a lot better when I was buying it (always happens to me) than when I got to inspect it at home. Girl has been wanting one... so here it is!

Original art... Hoping you all could share tips on touching it up? Thanks!

you could spend hours matching paint and touching up every scratch and trying to make it look like you didnt. you could buy the stencil kit and redo the whole thing or just go ahead and buy the stick on side art.

Really depends on your experience with spraying paint, woodworking/prep work/sanding, using stencils, etc..

As far as the original art goes... any reason to keep that in tact as much as possible and just try to touch up the rough spots? Or do you all see it as more of an all or nothing paint job? To me original even with some dings is cooler than one that looks brand new... maybe just me...

Dont get me wrong Ive seen some stenciled work that looks sick as hell on here... looks really tough though Ive never done it... stickers just dont do it for me as much would hate to put a sticker over original art... what would you guys do?

Oh and I see everyone asking where to get the stencils... anyone know?

I got a mrs pac cab that had black spray paint all over it and looked like hell. I cleaned it, matched the paint and got a bunch small brushes and went to town. It took me a long time but I repainted the entire cab by following the original lines. I think it came out great! If you look very closely you can tell but no one ever does. I have a bright looking cab that is a conversation piece in my collection.

I say all or nothing. Personally, a little bit of light wear never bothered me. Kind of gives it character

Touching up might be difficult due to the amount of work that needs to be done - the paint will be faded after this long, so getting the color matched might prove to be a challenge. Could end up having to repaint the entire thing anyways.

If you decide to stencil, you are probably looking at $200-250 for stencils and paint (as well as needing to sand the cab bare and filling any scratches, dents and dings). It's a lot of work, but the end result is worth it!

Dude nice job! How did you go about the paint matching?

CK - Real nice job on that restore! This may turn into my spring project.. where did you get the stencils?

I found this site (http://www.appolo.com/colorcodes/ms_pac_color_codes.htm) that had the color codes for home depot. The pink and yellow matched great but the blue I took back a couple of times to add more blue to make it darker (matched better with current color). I started painting the entire cab blue, then the pink, then the yellow, and black marker for the black sports. The blue and pink covered great but the yellow took a couple of coats (light color). Not sure if it increase or decreased the value but it looks awesome.

I also be interested to hear where people got the stencils. I have the pdf file for them, but haven't seen where to get/buy them. Also, anyone know somebody that will stencil a cab near Milwaukee? I don't have a paint setup, so it'd probably be pretty expensive to get it stenciled.

The time and effort you're going to spend on touching up that cab will be wasted. In the end you're still going to have something you're not happy with.

If you truly want that cab to shine, you'll strip it clean and start over with new graphics. Either stickers or paint, it's up to you.

If you need a set of stickers, let me know - I have a set in the box yet.

Or, buy your art from Phoenix.

Do NOT buy from Twobits, or feePay.

Either way, you're going to outlay more money than you've paid for the whole cab to do it right.

Have jpopson paint your cab. He's not that far from you.

sand down the cab,bondo,etc,stencil,& paint
the stickers don't look right compared to original paint

Have JPOPSON do it I just bought his finished cab and the stencil work is spot on and nice and vibrant. Stickers would be the way to go if you want to cheap out and have a nice cab (It is still a lot of work). Heavily touched up cabs have a lot of flaws.

I have a Ms Pac in very similar condition to yours. She plays great, but needs a resto. I am debating between paint and stickers. Tough call.
