I had to take a break from spending a good part of the afternoon attempting to get my Ms Pac pcb working because it's seriously pissing me off. Previously it was shelved while I tore the cabinet apart to begin the restoration. It worked fine when I put it away althought I suspected bad sockets for the daughter cards because I would have to re-seat one of them every so often because the game wouldn't boot (the screen didn't look similar to this current problem). So after replacing the daughter card sockets the board would only display garbage and not boot. Sometimes it would only give a repeating pattern of white dots. To summarize here is what I've tried to get the damn thing to boot with zero results.
-Replaced sockets for daughter cards and Z80
-Verified and/or tried replacing eproms
-Tried swapping brand new video rams
-Tested daughter cards in my working Pacman board and they are fine.
-Visually inspect solder side of the board for any possible trace gouges or bent pins shorting to each other
-Put known good Z80 from a Golden Axe pcb right into the the main board to eliminate the aux board
My only thoughts are that I either fucked up the socket replacements (I was careful on not damaging the through holes and used a de-soldering station and overall it went really smooth) or could it have anything to do with the big power caps? It had a good +5 in the cab though if I use it on my JAMMA setup I can't get the voltage higher than 4.6. If nothing I know tons of guys here can repair it, but maybe I'm just overlooking something easy.
Edit: I did not test the pcb before the sockets were installed so I can't say for certain if it was bad timing for it to die or I screwed something up.
