Hi, is there any way to switch between the 6F speed-up chip and the regular speed IC without having to manually swap them?

The specs (page 35 of TroubleShooting Guide Part 2 - http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-videogames/P/Pacman-Mspacman-Troubleshooting-Guide-Part2.pdf) say line 20 is a Chip Enable (CE) when low.

Does that mean I can wire all 24 pins of both ICs to the same traces on the PCB, then use a switch to toggle line 20 high/low on each IC?

thanks for any advice,

It's easier to buy a multi-Pac kit from someone and upgrade the board.

HudsonArcade here on the forum is one source.

Nah, HudsonArcade here makes a 6-pac board, switches between slow and fast versions of Pac and Ms. Pac, and two other games... forget which. Just plugs right in. My friend has one - works great.

But yeah, if you just want to switch between the two ROMs, you can piggyback them together and switch the enable lines back and forth (just be sure the inactive one is tied high when not in use). Or, you can combine both ROM images into a 2764, rewire the socket slightly, and switch between banks by pulling the upper address line high or low.
