Ms. Pac-Man video output problem

the monitor is a GO7 CBO 19 inch probably needs a new flyback and a full cap kit, you can get one from bob roberts http://www.therealbobroberts.net/g07deluxe.jpg hope your handy with a soldering iron

I am handy with a soldering iron, but I don't have patience to re-solder 15+ components (according to that photo).

Where can I get a new monitor? How do people feel about LCD panel replacements...do they still give the "original experience" vs. the CRT?

And btw, which pot is the h. sync?

you have missed the pots that need to be adjusted. leave the pots on the neck board alone. look closer at the chassis, you need to adjust the H. Freq.

Perfect! I found it. Adjusted it. Didn't fix it. Is it time to replace to monitor, or are there other options (soldering 15+ components isn't one of them for me :))

if you dont want to do the work yourself you could always send it off to arcadecup.com and have them do it for you a new monitor would cost 300+ where as doing the work yourself to fix the one you got or paying someone to do it will be much cheaper, also the go7 is easy

Thanks! I didn't know about arcadecup.com. What's the go7?

Where are you located? I'm sure you can find some one in here that can help if you dont want to do the parts swapping.

Question about the video cable (the harness that plugs into the monitor board from the cabinet). do you have one 6 pin connector and a 3 pin connector or just the 6 pin by itself? This may not have anything to do with your problem but if the cab was a PacMan before it was a MsPac or some one has put in PacMan harness there was one version of the harness that had an odd pinout on the monitor connector (at least I seem to recall that).

It very well could be a bad H. Freq. pot. You know how to use an ohm meter? With the monitor off measure the resistance across that pot. As you turn the pot you should see the resistance go from 5kohms to 0.0 ohms.....
If you put the ohm meter on it and it reads infinity or something like 5Mohms, and does not change as you turn the pot....the pot is bad.

Awesome advice, thanks. I know how to use a meter and will check it. Speaking of Zork, my friend, did you see the typewriter that plays Zork I? http://games.slashdot.org/story/10/11/01/1521256/Typewriter-Hacked-To-Play-Zork. Be sure to watch the video.

OK, I'm ready to send the stuff to arcadecup.com... but I don't know what to send. I get the feeling there are two boards I should send. Does anyone have photos of what precisely I should send? (Obviously not the main PCB).

thanks,
grimholtz

anyone? the one board is obviosu... but do I also send the board directly attached to the bottom of the CRT?

The little board that's on the bottom of your tube is called the neck board. Yes, you need to send the neck board with the main board. But, before you send that board in, check your other thread, I've posted there too.

Thanks. With your help, I'm going to try to repair this myself. <SCARED/>.

I can solder very well. I can identify components well. I have basic electronics knowledge... here goes nothing.
