ms. pac man score

You have some MsPac strategies to explain .

wish I could simply explain. Sure I have patterns and such that I have formed over the years but they are so ingrained that I don't really think about them I just do them. I've joked before that my strategy is simply not to die but it kind of is. Honestly the best thing would be to watch me play. If I had a real video camera that was easy to transfer video to a digital format I would shoot a video. All I have though is my camera for stills that can shoot 10-20 min of video which isn't really enough to get to the higher levels. Funny thing I almost never play ms pac any more because if I do I'll be playing for too much time.

Just curious to others, how high can you score before you lose your first life. On average I mean?

Hey if you can do a shorter video I wanna see it any ways . Or start filming on the Red Maze .

I loose my first life around 40,000 .

Not sure if this will help or not. Not my best playing. Any how, I started the video when I was about 150,000 in. Didn't really try and get all the ghosts or anything. Just want to show the game play around this level. The game doesn't seem to get a lot harder past this point until the very in near the kill screen(s). Or that's what I've heard. Never actually reached them yet.

my first is around 60,000-70,000

don't have the rom for that around sorry. Been a while since I've played slow version. I know I was still scoring in the 4-500,000 range last time I played slow. Which was like 10 years ago or more. I don't have the patience anymore to spend that much time though. It's not fun for me at that point. Unless I'm gonna go for the world record or something I just have no need to play that long. Even scoring 700,000 on the fast version is a long game time wise IMO. Not like an asteroids world record or anything but more time than I ant to spend playing one game.

Once you get to the no blue-time boards, on turbo, it never gets any harder. On regular speed, a few boards after the last blue-time board, Ms Pac-Man slows down (just like the 9th key on Pac-Man, same board number). After that, it doesn't change until the kill screen. The kill screen (which is around board 133), all sorts of things can happen. I've never seen one on turbo, but I suspect it's similar to regular speed. You can get an upside down "chase" board (but the game plays as if it's not upside down, making it very confusing) (note: chase board is the 3rd board type). It can also have an empty screen with only dots, parts of the outside of a pac-man maze, and garbage in the middle. Another thing that can happen is the game will just reset. I'll include a couple pics of some kill screens from a friend of mine. First is the upside-down chase board, you can see a banana coming out of the normal tunnel location, and a T has replaced one of the energizers. The other is a maze-less with a Pac-Man border (also displayed upside-down. Note the slots in the middle for the tunnel) and garbage is all over the screen.

If you can score in the 4-500,000 range regular speed thats pretty good  .

I know what you mean that you don't have the patience to play that long . Thats how I am with Mario Bros , I don't play it as much because I can play for over an hour . I hope to get that good at Mspac .

I think he meant 4-50,000.

no I stated it correct the first time. I can do 4-50,000 without dieing and then some on either version.

Yeah? Well I have a Ms.Pac-man PCB that says you couldn't crack 350,000 by... How much time do you need?

That's the original "slow" game. (Consider that a challenge).

Don't know how much time haven't played a dedicated slow version in 10 years. I'm sure I'm a bit rusty. Not that I doubt I could do it. Just not sure I have the time to get in a few games a week like I used to. I'm sure I can get the ROM I need. Don't need your board. And believe me I realize the difference in game play between fast and the original speed. Still I'm sure I can do it.

174,000+ or so... fast speed. Just over 100K normal speed...

I just got 98K Pac Plus with speed chip yesterday.

I play it sometimes but not very much for the same reason. Right now, it has the slow speed chip.

I've done 150K without dying. Usually, when I do that, I lose at least one life immediately after the first one. I burn up all my karma on the first life, I guess. :)

Can I get Aart to play for me and pay him a couple of bucks and win me the PCB? :)
