So I picked up another Ms. Pac-man and I am not sure what is up with the boards I have.

The one that came in it just puts blue Hieroglyphics all over the screen and a row of Ms. Pac-mans across the top - any idea where I might start - I reseated the chips, Tried a different z80 and a different daughter board.

The second board plays but the sounds are kind of missing half and sound just weird - Like half of the music is missing. Also the ghosts are a weird collection of different colors and they do not flash when changing back from turning blue. Also Ms. Pac. Man looks strange like part of her is missing and she is just yellow and not the right yellow. Her ribbon is also yellow.- I reseated the chips, Tried a different z80 and a different daughter board.

Any Help would be appreciated.

PEACE
Bart

Hi Jerryme,

I know that when the board is mounted in the game, one of the chips in one of the 4 rows at the bottom is partially responsible for the sound generation. The chip I am thinking of is 3 or 4 columns from the left of the board, and is an IC that sits in a socket. If you can find the one I'm referring to and remove-reseat it, it might help with your sound issues. Sorry I can't provide more specific detail right now, I'm sure someone else here will piggyback on the advice I'm trying to provide you on this topic.

On your 2nd issue, where you are seeing multiple Ms Pac's at the top of the screen and other garbage, do a google on "ms pac troubleshooting". I know there are at least 2 or 3 links out there that provide actual screenshots of different video errors, and they identify how to fix them.

I will keep looking and update this post with the links if I can find them. I just wanted you to know someone here is trying to lend a hand with your issues.
