Hi everyone,
I am working on making a custom 70% approx. Bally Midway arcade cab.
I had the idea in fall of 2010, but have been too busy and been taking it slow. I finally have some time to work.
This machine is going to be simple and the bare minimum, with dimensions rounded and little art.

A problem... I haven't decided whether to make it a Ms. or a Jr. Pac-Man! Post comments.

It will be a blue cab with a black interior and black where the T-molding is supposed to be, with a custom CPO designed by me and a marquee, thanks so much artworkdoctor.com!
It will run MAME with Mala as the frontend with Windows Vista. It's a crap old Thinkpad I've had for years.

The game will have:
Ms. Pac-Man (duh!)
Ms. Pac-Man fast
Ms. Pac-Attack
Ms. Pac-Man Plus (both variations! :) )
Pac-Man
Pac-Man fast
Pac-Man (Hearts)
Pac-Man Plus
Jr. Pac-Man

If anyone has a fast Jr. Pac-Man ROM for MAME, PLEASE PM me!

Currently I have the sides, bottom, kickpanel, and the CP cut out and sanded.
I have 2 Suzo Happ buttons, but am looking for 1-3 long leafswitch buttons. Please PM me if you want to sell any, especially if they are small!
I just went to Home Depot today and got the blue paint (Glidden Evermore Satin Rhapsody), L brackets to hold the cab together, metal L brackets to hold the marquee on (3/4"x1/2"), black gloss paint for the brackets, black semi-gloss paint for the fake T-molding and interior, a new grinding wheel, primer, some extra wood, foam rollers, and I think something else. :p

The problem with getting sideart (other than being so darn expensive) is while cutting, it cut off the line so most of the curve is improv, so it wouldn't fit.

Pics coming soon!

Darnit! Should I make a Ms. Pac or Jr. Pac?

downsized

just my two tokens..

I've seen people build a smaller Ms before, but never a Junior, that would be cool...

I would use real t-molding, it's available in a 1/2 inch width. You should do a search on artworkdoctor.com, if I'm not mistaken some members here had issues with them.

I vote for Jr. Pac.

AVOID ARTWORKDOCTOR.COM! Pastducheia (whatever his name is) is a liar and produces SUB PAR CRAP. If you want a quality inkjet product go with MAMEMARQUEES/GAMEONFRAFIX, or This Old Game... AVOID Artworkdoctor.com... the guy does NOT back up his product when he says he does...

That is all.

??? He has good quality stuff that's one-off. Do those other places have one-off stuff Why wouldn't it run MAME? The directory parent game thing? The frontend eliminates that.
As for using t-molding, I don't have the router or blade.
So far it's looking like Jr. Pac, anyone else?

If you go to minimame.com they have plans to build one kind of like this. I just did not see anything about side art. There are many guys on here that could help out with it, you would just need to give them measurments and what you want.

I have the Jrpac fast file.
If I built it I wouldn't run mame, a 60-1 would be much simpler.

I could use that jrpac fast file myself. I swear it wasn't in the files I already have for burning those pac roms.

I said I was going to the bare minimum with it still looking good. I don't have the money right now.

... His name isn't Pastucia. Jr. and Ms. use mostly the primary colors so it should be fine.
I'm only getting a CPO (laminted) and marquee (behind glass) and it's the cheapest option I can find. He's been giving me only good service. I've noticed the complaints about him are from the same person. I really don't care, as long as he doesn't send me a turd in the mail and take 1,000 bucks out of my account!
Look at Justin Elliot's mini Ms. Pac. It turned out great.
I don't need or want sideart. I already mentioned it's too pricey and it's so custom I don't know how to measure it. All of the curves are improvisation.
I guess Jr. it is! :)

What are you basing the quality off of? His quality is terrible.

All of the comparisons and pictures are of other arcades with lots of colors and black. Ms. Pac uses the basics. A bit of black (next to none on the CPO), pink, blue, yellow, red, and some white.

Bump. Can we please not turn this into an "argue about artworkdoctor" thread and just talk about my cab? I might still choose someone else.

I tried throwing the 8D fast file in mame (after renaming it) and mame doesnt like it because the checksum is different. Anyone have a workaround for this?
