Tomorrow I have the chance to buy 1 or possibly 2 Ms Pac Man full size cabs. They are described as follows:
#1 "good condition, needs monitor $175 or B.O."
#2 "good condition, working, but has been acting up lately $275 or B.O."
He also has a Jr Pac Man listed as "good condition, not working" for $225 or B.O. The ad also says that if you buy all 3 for $600, he will throw in extra ms pac boards and cheat chips.
I spoke to the guy on the phone tonight about the games. He said the condition of both games are similar to what you would see in an arcade today (well worn, initials carved in them, etc). He started to repaint the cab on one of the games, but said they both are complete (minus the monitor on the one game). As of now I haven't seen them. He will text me some pics in the morning and then I will be going over to look at them in the afternoon (wanted to go now, but it's too late). Sounds like these will need some work, but is it worth it? Any advice on what their value might be?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hey Mike,
Pac Man usually run between $300 - $400 for a nice one.
If he has one for $275 that is "acting up", I would need to know what is wrong with it?
What you need to look at is the artwork. How is the cab? Good shape? Good art? No flaking, no water damage? If everything looks nice then the price probably isn't bad.

My advice, your looking at projects so likely your going to dump money into them. It becomes enticing when you see a desirable classic for a decent price. It depends if your looking to keep them for your own collection and mint them out or just get them playable..or perhaps flip them. A monitor I would say would be 100-200 depending, side art if stencils 150-200, paint 20-50, marquees are likely faded or scratched 20-50, coin mechs / working boards 65-100, power supply or possibly kit 45-50, cpo 20-40, T-Molding 20, gromet, buttons, leafs etc... You get the idea, so a 100-200 game ends up really costing you 500-600, once your all said and done.

It really just boils down to what your planning on doing with them. Again I would wait to physically see the condition of the cabinets because if they are water damaged your just buying rotting plywood for 200+ with some broken parts. But to some people just like eBay your crap might be someones treasure.

I picked up my Ms. Pac back in June, and it cost me $250. It plays good, and had a nice, bright crisp monitor (had, because I swapped it into my galaga). The cabinet had no water damage, but the art was trashed.
