Mrs. Pac-Man stencil paint restore

We are arguing on colors when Jon and Brad's cabinet's are pretty much the same color.

I did a white balance on the photos and put them side by side. The look nearly the same to me.

I'm the process of doing this very thing but I'm curious where you got your stencils for $130. Everyplace I've seen the run around $200 If I could get them for cheaper the project would already be done :)

with the rising costs of materials and the time it takes to weed them not likely

Most of you have seen this video, some may not have. This is footage from the Bally Midway factory floor during Ms. Pac-man production. Keep in mind that the footage is old and the color matching on the film may not be 100%, but those cabinets appear to have a brighter shade of blue than most of the restorations I've seen.

From what I've seen the blue develops yellowish tinge from age. The side of my Ms. Pac that is unfaded has a much purer blue than the faded side.
The original pink also looks slightly warmer and deeper magenta than you'd imagine.

Here's a cabinet that's faded:

That cabinet has been revinyled and the photo color balance looks off. Brad's cabinet looks pretty spot on to me.

I agree mostly. However, I would like to see someone make accurate repros of the actual factory Ms. Pac decal art that was used for the last 20K or so games. That decal is sweet looking and more detailed.

It is a cool look. I have it 70% done, maybe time to finish it.

It's hard to be sure really, but that second "faded" one has s lighter teal look to all the blues, which makes me think the photo's color might just be off all around.

He specifically said that he paid $130 for his set. Which is why I was asking.

I will likely be ordering my set from you but I have already ran over budget and if I can save $70 that would be a great thing. For artwork I'm always going with quality over price, for stencils, I wouldn't mind saving a few bucks.

Not picking on you specifically, but on the same topic - In the pinball hobby, there's a guy that's considered the best, as far as detail, recreation, etc.

http://pinballpimpstencils.com/

and there's a seller on Ebay, classiccades or something (Jeff) that may be cheaper, but is known for lack of attention to detail, fudged details, etc. There have been some stencil makers that sold crap and were basically blacklisted from the hobby.

People just need to know that not all stencils are the same, not even talking about the material, but details, etc.

No I hear you but I dont think the op specified if thats what it costs him to make himself or if he bought those for that price somewhere else.

i color matched mine to the back door inside overspray

its close to what it looked when i go it but it's dark to most i see. It depends on what light it's in thou i guess...

I rolled mine, it sucked ass... but it looks great... I don't ever want to stencil again thou lol

If you notice i covered my registration marks with a slip of paper and then tape over it.....

why would i do that??? so the tape wouldn't pull the registration marks off like it did the first pass bahahaha..

little tip

The company that made the stencils is Escape Pod.
I was mistaken on the price, they were $200 for the entire set.
The quality seemed good, but removing the stencils paper backing was difficult because it keeps trying to pull the mask up as you peel.
The over spray and register marks were painted over with a brush.
The one thing I would change next time I do this is just using a can of black spray paint for the final stencil.
The black from the sprayer seemed to bleed under a little, I think because the lines for the black are kinda thin.
