Mr & Mrs Pac-Man owners: opinions on LED board for pac maze?

I'm considering making some boards to replace the lamp board for the maze on Mr & Mrs Pac-Man pinballs. It would be a drop in replacement for the original lamp board but would use LEDs instead of incandescent lamps.

The down side here is they would be kind of expensive. Probably in the $50-$80 range. Keep in mind though that replacing all of the original lamps will cost close to $50.

Would you buy one?

I've got one lamp out on mine so it would be hard to justify replacing the whole board. It's cool that you'd consider making that though. I need to get off my butt and order the lamp!

I've found the lamps on those boards to be quite durable. The fact that the board is mounted on rubber probably helps. I bought a couple spare boards on ebay so I've basically got a lifetime supply of lamps myself. It just seemed like an easy enough board to develop and it would be nice to have reliable, bright lamps in the maze and never have to worry about it again. It might also be possible to have adjustable brightness. That would be pretty cool. Another problem is the lamp "condoms". Those add up quickly too if you need them.

I think I'll hack one of my old boards for LEDs and see how it comes out.
