I have a Mr Do's Castle that I have been working on and now need some help with the sound. The game plays fine except for the fact it has no sound. I am assuming that the little board by the coin door is a amp of some kind. I have four wires going to this amp board...a black GND wire coming from "A" on the connector...a red wire with 11.3vdc coming from "J" on the connector...a orange/black wire with 5vdc (audio) from "L" on the connector...and a cream colored one that I get nothing on and is coming from "M" on the connector. My pinout is saying "M" is not used so why is a wire there? I get nothing coming out of my little amp board up to the speaker which I know is good. Is there a schematic for this little board and is there any way to test it?

Thanks for any help,
Scott

Do you have a link to schematics?

That cream wire should have unamplified sound on it. I would get an unused/cheap phone ear bud, cut off the plug and tie one wire to ground and connect the other wire to one end of the cream wire to verify that you have sound. This will tell you whether the problem is on the game board or somewhere else (amp board, speaker, etc).

I do get the sounds from "L" but not the cream colored wire at "M", so I guess the little amp board has some problems. I do not have a link to the schematics for this board. If you have it that would be great. While working on the game the monitor on the game went dead again and blew fuse 901 so this time I might have to replace the flyback and the HOT. Does the little amp on these boards go bad and where is the best place to get one. Maybe I will get a flyback at the same place.
Thanks,
Scott

you could try to recap the little amp board and see what happens, i think there is only a few caps on it.

I just put my order in for a new amp and caps for the board and will post back when I have them installed. Is there a site that would have the schematic for this little board?
Thanks again,
Scott

Well I just put new caps and an amp in the little board and now the game sounds like it should. The only trouble is if you try to turn it up with the POT it will go into very loud static noise. If I move the POT back and forth I can get it to a usable level. The POT is a RV16YP. Is there a replacement for this or do I just need to try and find exact part? Can the part be taken apart and cleaned? Thanks for all the help.
Scott

You might have corrosion/dirt in the pot. You can try turning it back and forth a few times quickly or spraying some contact cleaner inside the pot.

If those don't work, replace the POT. I have a hard time finding the right one so maybe the schematics/part list can help. If not, a post in WTB may get what you need.

Thanks I will go get some contact cleaner and try that.

Here is the schematic for the Mr Do's Castle sound amplifier. This is also the same one used on Mr. Do. According to the schematic, the pot is a 1K.
